Outside of the old, wrought-iron gates, a lone figure stood. Stepping forward, the figure pushed open the gates to reveal a large school campus. The two dorms loomed over the rest of the school, casting an ominous shadow in the moonlight. A few lights were flickering on in the dorm windows, evidence that a few students were still awake in the late hour. Taking a deep breath, the figure began walking towards the Administration building where the Headmaster was waiting.

As the figure strode past the trees that lined the path, it glanced around cautiously. Some of the shadows moved silently, creatures of the night dashing around on the darkened ground of the campus. The figure was aware of the rules that presided here: those creatures could not consume anyone's blood, whether they wanted to or not- but all the same it was slightly nerve-wracking, because that did not necessarily mean they would abide by those rules. Only the two prefects, a male and a female, were there to protect the humans that wandered during the late hours.

Tightening shaky hands around a cold, black handgun, the figure sighed and sped up its pace. Upon arriving at the door to the Administration building, the figure rushed up the stairs and stopped at the Headmaster's office. Slowly opening the door, the figure crept up to the Headmaster, who was gently snoring on his desk.

"Headmaster," the figure breathed. Awakening with a start, the Headmaster pushed up his glasses and smoothed down his rumpled hair, embarassed.

The figure pulled down the dark hood covering its face, revealing a young boy of about 15 with messy, blonde hair.

"We weren't expecting you so early," the Headmaster said.

The boy looked at him with eyes cold as ice. "I had to arrive as soon as possible due to...circumstances."

"Well, I hope you got here alright," grabbing a stack of papers, the Headmaster pushed them towards the boy. "Here's your registration papers."

Grabbing the pen offered to him, the boy signed the papers with a flourish. He sighed and pushed them back towards the Headmaster. "Is that all?"

The Headmaster shifted through the papers for a moment, then glanced up at the boy briefly before looking down again. "There is the problem of room assignments..." he muttered. "We are full at the moment, but I have to let you in...well...we have one open room...maybe with...nah...well..." he continued to mumble for a few minutes before looking up. "I suppose you'll just have to room with Zero Kiryuu-kun for a little bit. Is that okay with you?"

"No problem," the boy replied. Kiryuu...sounds familiar...but I can't remember why...he thought to himself.

"Okay, then," standing up to shake the boy's hand, the Headmaster smiled warmly. "Welcome to Cross Academy, Jun Itashi-san. I hope you have a good time here, and learn a lot."

The boy smiled slightly in return. "Oh believe me, I will."

I am that boy, and this was only the begining for me.
