I've stayed up a few nights in a row now, restless. It's been a while since I've seen you and there is a sort of pain in my chest. A suffocating feeling even. Breathing has become a chore now and I wish I could run to you and tell you how difficult life seems.
People had always told me that time waits for no one and you don't know how much time you have with someone. Had I known yours and my time was going to be cut so short, I would've stayed out late with you longer, made more than a thousand of our consistently fantasized future plans, and hugged you tighter each time.
And of course, kissed you with all the passion inside of me.
Some nights, I'll wake up and weep a little in bed because of how this drains me physically. Thinking of you and all those marvelous hours we spent together, they're slowly becoming foggy in my mind as tears have stained them now.
Never would've guessed that we'd end in a way that tragic movies ended. We fooled ourselves to believe we could swerve all the bumps in the road. Imagine how many people believe they can and I guess that's what makes the difference. The people who actually swerve and the fools like us who can only believe, but never actually do.
I'm sure you're sitting there on your bed, just like me. On this very dark night, realizing, there's never going to be someone saving me like you saved me. You've been deprived of the one you knew like the back of your hand.
You'll find a few lovers worth loving like me, but none of them, and you know for a fact, can save your soul like I did. There are a few sentences left unsaid, but maybe, just maybe they're better off that way. Maybe we're better off that way.
