All the usual disclaimers apply: none of the characters are mine, and neither is the show.
This drabble takes place at the end of "If you could see what I see". This story is loaded as a chapter, as I have a couple of other drabbles in mind, and figured I may as well load them all in the same place.
Unexpected miracles
By BHP
Golden California sunshine, an azure jewel sky, the tang of salt on a gentle breeze. Mark closed his eyes to savour the thrill of being alive. Death had come a little too close this time.
Millie's revelation about Hardcastle's feelings for him warmed his heart and soul, echoing the bone deep warmth of the sun on his body. Mark knew he felt the same way about the judge, but some things just seemed impossible to share.
A gentle hand adjusted Mark's hat to shade his eyes.
"Thanks, Judge."
"Anytime, kiddo."
Sometimes the impossible was easier than it seemed.
