Jack knew that Bobby had just been yanking his chain when he had dropped the pearl necklace into his hand from their mother's safety deposit box, but he had kept it anyway, tucking it into his jeans pocket and forgetting about it until they got home that night and he had gone into his room.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, he let the pearls roll across his palms. He still couldn't believe that she was gone. Who would kill the sweetest and most amazingly selfless woman in the world?
It was what he had said to Bobby before, and the words echoed in his mind once more. It just made no sense.
"Got heels to go with that, Jackie?" Bobby asked from the doorway, looking at him with an amused smile on his lips.
"Oh yeah," Jack replied, undoing the clasp on the necklace and reaching behind him to put it on. Flipping his feet up onto the bed so that he was fully horizontal and facing Bobby, he added, "and that's the whole outfit."
He twined his fingers behind his head and grinned widely as Bobby's eyes darkened before the older man did an abrupt about-face and left the doorway.
Laughing softly to himself at how easy it was to tug on Bobby's fetish strings, Jack reached down and picked up his guitar - a long ago birthday gift from all three brothers - and picked out a few notes softly.
He left the necklace on through dinner, enjoying the way Bobby flushed all through the meal until he finally barked out a demand that Jack better take off the damn thing or at least tuck it under his shirt so that he didn't have to see the little fairy wearin' it.
Jack did as he was told, but smirked down the table at Bobby as he continued to eat, promises in his blue eyes.
