The Akatsuki stared at one another as the sound of a heart pounding on the machine stopped, leaving a long, miserable beep. Tears welded up in the green eyes of only woman, Konan. She sobbed into the shirt of her boyfriend, Pein. His silver/gray eyes looked distant.
Hidan stared numbly at the machine for a moment before standing and quickly walking out of the hospital room. Kakuzu rushed after his albino boyfriend, in hopes of giving the other comfort.
Alma, Deidara's girlfriend, shuttered and grabbed his shoulders and ruined his dark green shirt with her salty tears. He just gently wrapped his arms around her shaking form, slowly rocking her back and forth.
Kisame just sat there, unmoving. His boyfriend slid his slender arms around his waist, and the blue man did the same.
And last, Sasori. He stared at the monitor, then at the face of his now deceased fiance. He couldn't breath. He was suffocating. He felt like he was being sucked into a black hole of grief and sorrow. Like he was falling.
Down. . . Down. . . Down. . .
Turn away
If you could get me a drink
Of water, 'cause my lips are chapped and faded
It was just as they said: you feel light headed and suffocated when you find out your loved one has died. In his case, his only loved one. Enma.
Call my Aunt Marie.
Help her gather all my things.
Any bury me in all my favorite colors.
My sisters and my brothers.
Enma had been battling lung cancer for 3 ½ years. Brave, some people had called her. If only they knew. . . All her siblings had died. All her family had died. She was almost all alone. If it weren't for Sasori and the Akatsuki, she would have committed suicide a looooong time ago.
Still, I will not kiss you.
'Cause the hardest part of this
Is leaving you.
When they'd 1st diagnosed her with lung cancer, Sasori felt like he was about to - metaphorically - die. How?! Why her? What'd she ever do?!?! She'd looked like she was about to burst into tears. Later that week, He'd asked her what she thought the hardest part of this was. She looked up at his from her book with her big blue eyes and whispered, " Leaving you."
Now turn away.
'Cause I'm awful just to see.
'Cause all my hair's abandoned all my body.
All my agony.
She's suffered so much from the chemo and medications they put her on.
Sasori could tell - it was killing her on the inside. Her eyes had lost their spark. The healthy shine in her light brown hair was gone. Her laugh held no life. No feeling but one: pain. Sasori hated it.
Know that I will never marry.
Baby, I'm just soggy from the chemo.
But counting down the days to go.
It just ain't living.
Enma had walked around like a living corpse. All her energy was stolen from her system. And their wedding was only 5 weeks away. They'd even bought a dress already. It fit her like a glove, and she looked gorgeous in it. Well, she used to. Now she'll never wear her ring. Never hear or say the words 'I do.'
And I just hope you know,
That if you say Goodbye today,
I'd ask you to be true.
'Cause the hardest part of this
Is leaving you.
Never say "I love you" again. Never smile again. Never touch, never feel. Never kiss. Never even breath.
'Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you.
"Yeah," Sasori thought, "I know."
He lent down to kiss his true love one last time on her already clammy lips. "I feel the same way. . ."
