"Mother!" Gretl called as she saw Maria walk through the door to the villa.

"Hello, my dear. Where is your father?"

"In his study." Gretl relied. Maria kissed her on the forehead and headed to her husband's study. She opened the door to see him sitting on his sofa with a guitar in his lap.

"I was just tuning it, for when Max comes this evening." Maria smiled and sat down next to him. He started playing Edelweiss. They started singing together, forgetting that the door was open. Gretl and Marta wandered in and joined in. Liesl and Kurt joined in next. Brigitta, Louisa and Friedrich came in and joined them.

Edelweiss, edelweiss

Ev'ry morning you greet me

Small and white

Clean and bright

You look happy to meet me

Blossom of snow

May you bloom and grow

Bloom and grow forever

Edelweiss, edelweiss

Bless my homeland forever

Small and white

Clean and bright

You look happy to meet me

Blossom of snow

May you bloom and grow

Bloom and grow forever

Edelweiss, edelweiss

Bless my homeland forever

The children clapped and hugged their parents. they were growing older. Liesl was 18, and Gretl was 7. Maria and Georg kissed each other, as the doorbell rang. It was Reverend Mother. Maria had answered the door.

"Reverend Mother!" She said, surprised to see Reverend Mother. Maria was joined by Georg who had heard Maria's surprised tones.
"Maria, Captain von Trapp. I wished to inform Maria of the death of Sister Margaretha." Maria started to cry, Sister Margaretha had always been so kind to her. Georg held his wife in his arms, smiling at her and Reverend Mother.
"I do not wish to burden you any longer, I must get back to the abbey." Reverend Mother said. "Goodbye" and she left.
