Blake took a sharp breath, her mouth quivering in shock as the taste of blood captivated her taste buds. Was she really going to die? In the dark? In the freezing cold? Alone?
This line of thought repeated in what seemed like a sad, endless loop. The very thought of dying here and now felt like a tall wall that stood in her way from being a huntress alongside team RWBY.
Blake began to water with tears, as the memories of Team RWBY filled her thoughts.
Ruby, naïve and innocent, but still a very serious and dependable leader.
Weiss, the "know it all" type of person in the group, but calm and collective during enemy encounters.
Yang, bright and energetic, and those sarcastic jokes in the heat of battle, so carefr…
Blake violently coughing up blood interrupted her train of thought. Breathing becoming heavier, harder. The cold wind making this even worse, her body slowly freezing.
She could feel her heart giving out – her fingers starting to shake from the cold, the numbness leaking into every muscles of her body. The world starting to box around her, like a coffin.
Her blood drying on her skin, as it continues pours out of her deep wounds.
Running off like a cat crawling away to lick its wounds before it dies in some forgotten corner.
"Blake?"
Blake smile –well she wish she could, if moving was possible. She opens her eyes.
"Ad – am…"
Adam bends down next to Blake. His hands slowly hovering over Blake, analyzing the seriousness of the wounds, as if afraid to touch and hurt her further.
"Why are you here?"
Blake had forgiven him. Because underneath his arrogant and confident exterior, she knew he was suffering.
Worthless. Degenerate. Less than.
"You don't deserve to die alone, Blake."
His hands slowly running through her hair. Tears start to stream from Blake's eyes.
"I'm here, Blake," cradling her in his arms.
"I know." She coughs. Her breath thinning, and her sight is becoming blurry.
"Stay please…"
"I won't leave you," Adam says. "I will never leave you."
Blake is cold, but her tear mixed with Adam's gently tears are falling hot against her cheek.
"I love you, Blake"
Blake reaches a hand to touch Adam's face, to feel the warmth, warmth that she had craved for. Her fingers grazed Adam's mask and managed to remove the mask exposing his face. Adam shivers, his body rippling like the surface of a lake upset by a stone. She feels nothing, she sees nothing.
Blake's hand falls. She manages a smile and the last thing she can consciously feel is the tearing of her heart.
With death, there was a certain beauty that it possessed. The eerie moonlight that illuminated her gentle expression and tender and even in night, her smile was still as bright as day.
Her heart has now ceased beating,
Her eyes are forever closed,
Her soul was now gone and
All that now remained was her lifeless body lying in the arms of a wilting rose.
