For the 30 Harry Potter Prompts Challenge on HPFC
One story. 30 prompts.
Hogwarts through Lily Evans' eyes.
15-word drabbles.
~1st Year~
Platform 9 3/4
On the platform, an entirely new world lay before Lily. And she was completely terrified.
"Gryffindor!"
The bespectacled boy cried out, "Where dwell the brave at heart! Just like my Dad."
"Slytherin-
-That's where I'll go," Severus whispered. "I know it."
"I'll go there too," Lily promised.
Great Hall
She'd never seen a room so grand in her life. She felt dwarfed. Tiny. Insignificant.
Pumpkin Juice
But two months later, as she sipped pumpkin juice with Alice, it all seemed normal.
Wand
"Your wand has a preference for Charms," Flitwick squeaked.
Lily blushed, watching her feather soar.
Parchment
One day, Lily realised that fresh parchment smelled like home. And, suddenly, she belonged here.
~2nd Year~
Black Lake
Outside, the storm raged, hammering the carriage with raindrops.
"Those poor first years..." Alice said.
Forbidden Forest
"You're not allowed in there," Lily warned. "You'll be in trouble!"
"Stop me," Potter challenged.
Howler
The first time she heard a howler explode, Lily screamed. The second time, she laughed.
The Burrow
"S'not much," Fabian admitted as Alice and Lily stepped off the bus. "But it's home."
~3rd Year~
Diagon Alley
Looks didn't matter. Yet, as Madame Malkin poked and prodded, Lily suddenly started to care.
Broomstick
"Wannna ride my broomstick?" a boy crooned obscenely.
Potter punched him.
Lily hid a smile.
Hogsmede
"Come to Hogsmede with me?" Potter asked, cocky.
Lily slapped him. Then she smiled properly.
Owl
Each morning, the owls glided overhead, bringing the same a message to Severus: You're Forgotten.
Hufflepuff
The Great Hall had never looked prouder than it did now, decked in Hufflepuff yellow.
~4th Year~
Professor McGonagall
"Things will get harder this year," McGonagall announced.
Black wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at Alice.
Quidditch
The wind made Potter's hair look dishevelled and wild.
Lily hated that she liked it.
Love Potion
Lily could smell fresh parchment and early morning dew.
James could smell broomsticks and flowers.
~5th Year~
The Leaky Cauldron
"What are you doing here?" Lily asked.
Sirius shrugged.
"Home isn't so great right now."
Spells
Simple spells suddenly weren't simple anymore. And, as Severus blurred the lines, neither were allegiances.
Potions
Lily was late to Potions. Severus' absence negated the need to ask what was wrong.
~6th Year~
Whomping Willow
"I can't figure out why they planted it..." Lily mused.
"Me either," came Remus' response.
Ravenclaw
She met the Ravenclaw one Charms lesson. His tap-dancing tea-cup collided with hers. Sparks flew.
Exams
Potter's dark hair stood out from the crowd of ducked heads. It was irritating. Distracting.
Butterbeer
"Want something stronger?" Alice offered.
From that moment on, Lily's lips were glued to James'.
~7th Year~
Malfoy Manor
Lily gaped at the manor.
Beside her, James clapped a comforting hand to Sirius' shoulder.
Hagrid's Hut
"What's so great about Hagrid's?" Sirius asked.
James glanced at Lily, then whispered, "It's empty."
House Points
Seventh year brought out the house spirit in everyone. James particularly liked Lily's red lacy-
Magic
This new world was dangerous. Only now, Lily was a little less terrified than before.
