Oh, why, hello there! I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting any company, please, come in, sit down in front of the fire and have a cup of hot chocolate. Oh no, don't be bashful, I have plenty. Now, what could a youth such as yourself have with an old coot like me? Ah? You want to here a tale? Well! Lucky for you, I have the perfect story for you, young one!
This is a story about two young hedgehogs. But before I tell you this story, I'd like to remind you of what a wise Chinese proverb says "There are forces in this world that will hold true and keep us together always; the heart will never forget and your loved one's life's will always be edged into your soul." What does this mean? Ah, but what would the fun be if I told you? Now, sit back and let me tell you a tale, the tale of how one hedgehog and the spirit of his friend saved the world…
The story of the Soul Bond.
The team of anthros stood at the edge of the dessert, leaving all signs of city life behind them and the emptiness that the dessert held dear to. But, as always, things weren't as peaceful as one perceive, for off in the distance laid trouble for our heroes. A blue hedgehog stood at the front of the group looking out across the sand to the horizon "Are you sure this is the place, Tails?" The hedgehog said as he turned to face a yellow and white, twin tailed fox.
"Yep, according to the reports we received, Eggman's base is out there, approximately thirty-three miles north of here," The fox, whose name was apparently Tails, said as he fiddled with a radar on a bi-plane. Another animal, a red echidna, jumped down from the tip of the plane.
"Yeah, I can see some smoke off in the distance, looks like Eggman is up to no good again," the echidna said while straining his already incredible eye sight out over the dark horizon, "what do you say we pay the old man a visit?"
"I think me and Sonic can handle this one just fine, Knuckles," said a black hedgehog steeping up beside the blue hedgehog. With some resentment, Knuckles nodded and the two hedgehogs speed off, kicking up a storm of sand and dust in their wake.
The fox and echidna looked out at the storm of sand after. A pink hedgehog in the passenger seat of the bi-plane spoke up. "Do you ever get a terrible feeling when those two speed off into danger?" She squeaked as she stood up to look off in the distance. Knuckles and Tails looked at the girl and turned back to the fading dots.
"Only every time…" They murmured as the three watched the distance.
Huh? Oh? That seems to be the end of the chapter! Oh, don't worry, lad, the story is far from over, but a bit of suspense never kills anyone, right? Well, I think I'll continue now…

Hey guys, yes, ANOTHER story. But hey, I can juggle three diffrent stories at once... but enough of that. I'd really like to thank one person who really helped give me this idea (though unbenoced to him), Thag-the-upset. His story, Need 2 Speed, really showed an angest side of Sonic, and I liked it. Plus, he said he wanted to kill Sonic off for once, so, heh, not to ruin anything, but if you don't want to see a "dead" Sonic, turn back now, or leave my a nice flame. Pirates' Ocarina has a chapter almost done, for those wondering.
