A/N: I realise that right now I should be writing Thunder but I couldn't help writing this one, it was just so tempting.

Darkness. Kitty couldn't help but feel helpless in the dark. This was partly why she was an insomniac. The other part was her friends from back in Illinois. They had stayed up all night talking to her during her first two weeks at the mansion. But they'd gone back to their normal sleeping patrons at this stage. After all it had been almost two years since she first moved in. Usually these days Rogue was out. Strange as it was, Rogue had become a much more outgoing person when she gained control of her powers. And Kitty was happy for her. She really was.

While Kitty hated the darkness, Kurt didn't sleep because of nightmares, or rather fear of nightmares. His history was one only two people in the mansion, apart from his self knew. And that was only because every time he has a nightmare about his past he projects what's happening. Loudly. While almost hurting himself physically in the process. So now at night he stays up. In the morning his eyes hurt and it takes a major amount of coffee to make him even a little less sleepy. As far as he knew no one else in the mansion was a insomniac apart from him. He was the prankster of the mansion, and it was a reputation he was going to have to give up in a year. In a year he'd be going to collage. Collage was one of the many things he'd never expected to do. He didn't care about his grades that much, but collage was where Kitty was heading after high school, so he figured he might as well give it a go.

At night Kitty usually wrote. Writing was a hobby she'd picked up from Pyro while at the brotherhood before breaking up with Lance. Apparently she wasn't the only mutant insomniac in the world. She had met him in the kitchen one night. He had his notebook on the table and was scribbling words down franticly. Kitty watched as his pen flew over the paper for a few seconds before sitting down across from him. When he looked up he smiled at her, and he was more than willing to explain why writing was a great hobby for insomniacs. One of the reasons he stressed the most was that when you're writing you lose track of time. And when you lose track of time you don't feel so tired.

Kitty looked down at the sentence she had just written.

'With his eyes he had begged her to forgive him. And with hers, she had turned him down.'

She decided that it was as good a time as any to get some coffee in the kitchen. As she climbed out of bed, pulling the covers back, her notebook fell to the ground with a silenced thud.

"Kitty?" Kitty was in shock that someone was outside the door to her room at 4 in the morning. She was even more shocked that the only other person up this early was Kurt.

"Yeah Kurt, it's me, come in if you want."

A/N: Soooo. Was it any good? I really hope so. I am very young to be an insomniac. I'm only 12. Anyone shocked? My mom was when she walked into my room at 5 in the morning on a Monday morning. That was fun to write. : ) I'm gonna get back to work on Thunder now.
