*Sigh* I am leaving tomorrow for camp and I will not be on until Saturday… Here is a little story for y'all to enjoy while I'm away.
AU, one shot, Legolas is taking the Ring to Mordor, there is no Fellowship, gender-bending.
"Boromir…" Legolas sighed as she watched the Human get ready to depart from Rivendell and return to Gondor. The Gondorian turned to look at the elleth standing a little ways off.
"Yes, my Lady?" Boromir gave a little bow to the Princess.
"I was wondering… Are you returning to Minas Tirith?" Legolas asked quietly. She vaguely wondered when her attraction to this Human started. She had only known him for two days before the Council, and then the little respect she had for him was very nearly thrown away when he insulted Aragorn!
"Aye, I am and you will be welcome in Gondor." Boromir said, catching onto the hidden meaning; 'When all is said and done, and even before then, will I be welcome in Gondor? I fear I will have not the strength to return home just then.'
"Thank you, Lord Boromir." A small smile graced Elven lips and Legolas closed her eyes.
"You worry about your journey." Boromir stated.
"It is not the journey that bothers me, it is the foe and what will become of those and that which I care for. The worry of those around me also takes its toll." Her eyes remained closed as she spoke. Boromir stepped up to her and laid a hand on her shoulder.
"I was once told by a wise person that we should take strength from those that need us." Boromir said softly as she opened her eyes. "And even those and that which we love are gone, they never really leave us, they are right here," Boromir touched where Legolas' heart was. Legolas reached up and gently laid her hand on Boromir's where it still lingered. There were a few moments of silence before Boromir gently kissed her. And that was how Aragorn found them later, wrapped in each other's embace.
