Love. A word I don't use often. But that's the only word that described how it felt. I loved Ellis with all my heart. Zoey already found her way into his.
'Ellis!' I heard her giggle. I hated her more than losing at poker. Well, maybe a bit more than losing at poker. I had to stop this relationship… at all costs.
"Hey Ellis." I said, bursting in the door. She was sitting on top of him, making my blood boil.
"Get a room." I said.
'This 's a room, Nick.' Ellis replied.
"A safe room. Now get off of him." She shot me a look that could've killed me. She left the room after that, mad.
'Why'd ya do that for, Nick!', Ellis spat, 'I HATE you when you do that!' Words. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me. That's definitely wrong. A tear slid down my cheek.
'Nick?' I ran back to my bedroom. I wept. A conman isn't supposed to weep. Ellis was a different story, though.
'Nick? I'm sorry, let me in.'
"Okay." My voice cracked like a boy going through puberty.
'I'm sorry I hurt you….' He came closer, but stopped, inches away from putting his hand on my shoulder.
'Oh yeah, I forgot, Mr. Big Conman don't need no comfort.' He smiled.
"We do sometimes." I replied, walking towards him. I didn't want to force it, I wanted it to be just right…
'Your not sayin' your… jealous of Zoey. Are ya?' Damn, that kid got me.
"I am, Ellis. I love you…" I kissed him, without hesitating, without regret. Just love. He returned it, shakily.
'I don't think Zoey'll be happy wif me Nick.' Ellis said.
"Let's just break her heart now, shall we?" I said, smirking. I grabbed his hand in mine and found Zoey's bedroom. I kissed him, and he moaned.
'What the hell? Better not be you, Francis…' She saw us, and slapped me as hard as she could.
'I hate YOU!', she turned to Ellis, 'You too, you lying little… BRAT!' she yelled, slamming the door hard.
"Well we got that over with, how about we hit the bed?" I practically growled. Ellis moaned, and I could've swore I heard a throaty snicker.
