Sam's Confession

Sam and Dean Winchester had just met Lizzie after she saved Sam from a rather troublesome vampire earlier in the evening. Now they were at a bar chatting. Dean couldn't take his eyes of Lizzie, but she on the other hand only seemed to have eyes for Sam. Lizzie was telling Sam that she was a religious demonologist and that she was single and hadn't been a relationship for at least four years.

"Everyone that I have a relationship with dies," said Sam. Lizzie laughed at this, but stopped when she noticed Sam's serious expression. "No, really," he said.

Then he sighed unhappily. "What?" asked Lizzie. "Look, Liz – I can call you Liz, right?" Lizzie nodded. "Okay,'' said Sam. "We really shouldn't be a couple – let alone friends," said Sam. Lizzie looked confused. "What could you have done that could be so horrible or make you so dangerous?" asked Lizzie.

Sam sighed. "I started the Apocalypse," he said in a 'there-I-said-it' kind of way. He then went on to explain how he had put his trust in a demon named Ruby, who manipulated him in drinking demon blood, convincing him that it would make him strong enough to kill this demon named Lilith. But unfortunately it ended in the worst possible way. Lilith was attempting to break these 66 seals to free Lucifer from Hell, except for one thing – Lilith was the final seal. And when Sam killed her, he in turn set Lucifer free. Dean then killed Ruby, but by then it was too late.

Sam sighed, looking ashamed. Lizzie frowned. "Look Sam, we all make mistakes, right? We're only human!" "It sounds so simple when you say it like that," said Sam. "I've done stuff that I wish I could take back," said Lizzie. "As bad as ending the world?" asked Sam. Lizzie chuckled. "Well, no, but uh, when I was sixteen, I tried befriending this guy, and turns out he wanted more than just a friendship with me. I told him I wasn't interested, but he wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. To this day I wish I hadn't tried to befriend him,"

"You can't blame yourself for that!" said Sam. "Neither can you!" said Lizzie. "How were you supposed to know what Ruby's motives were? How were you supposed to know she was in cahoots with Lilith? You didn't! Don't beat yourself up!"

Sam smiled. "Thanks," he said. "No problem," said Lizzie.

Later that evening, Sam and Dean took Lizzie back to their motel room, and Sam kissed Lizzie on the mouth and began pulling her blazer off her shoulders, but Lizzie pulled away looking increasingly uncomfortable. "Um, about that…" she said. She held up her right hand. A silver ring glittered on her ring finger with the words I Will Wait engraved in it. "I'm a Christian,'' said Lizzie. "So unless you intend on marrying me, I won't have sex with you – It's nothing personal!" said Lizzie seeing Sam's bummed out expression. "It's just how I feel."

A moment later, Sam smiled. "I can respect that," he said. "Don't worry about it." Lizzie sighed looking relieved. "Thanks," she said.
