It was a typical Saturday, with the Hummel-Puckerman house full of sons, daughters, partners, grandsons and a growing granddaughter.
While Noah was in the backyard with his oldest son getting the barbeque ready Kurt was inside with his grandsons playing and laughing.
"Nana can we play princess" Davey asked as he as his brother and his best friend started to dress as knights
"But we don't have any girls yet" Kurt said watching his grandsons get ready to have an adventure
"We don't need one we have you" Davey giggled, he had been around his nana and granddad enough to hear his granddad call his nana princess.
"Ok" Kurt asked confused, but as it was his grandsons he went along with it. Soon Davey CK and Jake were running around the house trying to get to the princess who was asleep in the tower that was guarded by a fire breathing dragon.
Soon all of Noah and Kurt's children had joined the adventure pretending to be bad guys for the boys to fight and save the princess.
When Noah and Caleb came in to get the food that Toby and Rory had made ready for the barbeque they found all of the adults in the living room sat in the corner.
"What's going on" Caleb asked going to his husband who was sat on the floor next to his younger sister
"We are the bad guys that knights Davey, CK and Jake have vanquished in their never ending quest to save the princess." Mike said accepting the kiss
"Ok" Caleb said wanting to laugh at his sons and nephew but he knew how serious they got when playing knights.
"Daddy you're the dragon you need to stand in front of princess nana and we have to save him with granddad" Davey said pulling his father and grandfather in the game.
Soon the knights had vanquished the daddy dragon, who had tried to stop them with tickles like all of the other bad guys; until all was needed to wake the fair princess was a kiss from his prince.
"So what do I need to do" Noah asked pretending to not know how all fairy tales ended, in fact he was looking forward to it.
"You need to kiss princess nana" CK said
Noah knelt next to the sofa where Kurt was lying pretending to be asleep and started to kiss him, when he pulled away from the kiss he whispered
"awake fair princess I have come to rescue you"
Soon Davey CK and Jake were cheering that princess nana had been saved, and the adults in the room were pleased that they could now have dinner.
Soon the heads of the large Hummel – Puckerman family were left alone, they sat in front of the fireplace looking at the family portrait that hung above it and smiled.
