A/N: This is a one shot. In Angel they end it with them just about to fight, anything could have happened, and this is my take. Hope you like it. Read my other Angel/ Buffy fic: The Gloves have Come Off, it is much more elaborate. Please Read and Review.
Angel knew that he didn't have much time left. Gunn was gone and he mourned and honored him with every demon killed. Spike looked close to being dusted, but Ileria looked like she could go on forever.
He remembered the last few days, when he had to act evil to convince the Black Thorn to let him in their inner circle, but before anything went down he left a message to Buffy, "If you want in on a major fight be in LA next week, and be sure to get any non-slayers out of the way. Just in case I never see you, I love you Buffy, I loved you before I met you, and I have never stopped loving you."
Every swing, every kill, he continued on knowing that was one less evil that Buffy would have to face, after two hours of fighting it was finally getting to him. He was knocked to the ground, and could have been dust, if the head of the demon hadn't come off via a sword.
"I got your message Angel, and I wouldn't have missed it, and neither would have the 50 slayers that could get here on such short notice. Buffy leaned down and pulled Angel to his feet. "You sure did something to piss them off. Oh, and bye the way, I love you too. And there is no one else I could rather have fighting at my side."
"Where's the rest of the scoobies?" Angel asked as they continued to fight on, back to back.
"Willow is at a safe distance helping with good magic, Dawn is in England with Xander and Giles, I told them that Dawn was in not way to follow me here if they wanted to keep all of their extremities."
"So, how many apocalypses is this for us now?"
"I've lost count. Why'd you stir them up like this?"
"I got a message, this is The Apocalypse. It was meant to be done slowly, so as to not get our attention. I decided that I needed to piss them off enough, to get them to show their true faces."
"Well, I'd say that it worked. And, I'd have to say, I prefer these flesh and blood minions to the first who had no corporeal form."
"Yeah, she's a bit of a bitch as I seem to remember." Angel and Buffy fought side by side into the night. He knew that eventually he was going to have to abandon the fight for shelter, otherwise he was dust, but for now he had Buffy by his side, and he could defeat everything with her by his side.
