Okay so I don't own Avatar and I don't own the characters just the plot. Read and Review.
Zuko wandered the halls of his palace- that still sounds weird to him, his palace, his throne. He was wandering trying to avoid his advisors, for the past 6 months they had been nagging him about how he needs a Firelady, but come on he was only put into power 2 years ago. The war had ended three years ago, and yet he hadn't thought of her since then. After that brief kiss she gave him before the real fighting had began.

They had just taken down a dozen or so fire nation soldiers, Zuko had been slashed by one of their swords. It was just a small gash but Toph knew it was more, it meant more, it meant their lives were really on the line that this was really happening , the end of the war was coming. She knew that he loved Mai and that when this was over they would become Fire Lord and Lady but right now this wasn't the Firenation palace and she'd be damned if se died in this stupid war before she knew what his lips felt like against hers. After Katara healed his wound they went on their way, as usual Toph and Zuko fell behind. "Zuko, do you think we'll win?" he seemed to be day-dreaming so she hit him and asked again, he sighed. "I hope so Toph,I want this to be over." She sighed and made up her mind and grabbed his wrist, therefore stopping him. Zuko noticed when she asked her earlier question, she said his real name, not one of her stupid nicknames. She had not let go of his wrist. "Zuko, if by some crazy event, I die want to have-" he growled and grabbed her hand and pulled her to his chest. "You, Toph out of all of us is the least likely to die." Shaking her head not believing she was saying this aloud, "I'm blind Zuko, I'm strong…but I'm vulnerable and I just want to have done this, in case this war doesn't go the way we want." He looked so confused so she grabbed his arm again and stood on her toes. It wasn't a long kiss but it was amazing, he was in such shock that instead of holding her and kissing her back like he wanted to, he caught up to the group she was already mocking Aang. That fleeting moment seemingly doomed to stay that way; fleeting.

He was broken out of his reverie by a sound, several actually, all the sounds culminated meaning only one thing. Toph. A familiar sound of footfalls, the vibrations of trembling rock, then there's the tell tale yelling "SPARKY!" Spinning on his heel he sees a short girl with long black hair and glazed over green eyes; not looking seventeen. "Sparky, did you know your as harder to find then meat around Sokka!" When she got in front of him, she heard his heart beat erratically. She had surprisingly softened a bit over the year, her missing him had softened her. "Did you miss m-" he grabbed her before she could finish. And he kissed her. He kissed her so passionately and full of love that she had no choice but to reciprocate with as much feeling as him. When they parted he put his forehead to hers, "You have no clue how much I missed you my Blind Bandit, I love you." she smiled and kissed him again, mouthing "I know" into the kiss. When they pulled away she put her hand over his heart, his beat matching her own. "I did actually come here for a reason. Twinkle Toes and Sugar Queen are getting married, your invited, it's at the Western Air Temple." He grabbed her hand and started walking again, "I'll come Toph but only if you go with me, be my date." she gasped, then said the most amazing this Zuko had ever heard,
"Yes."
