Okay, this idea was made in my crazy head a few hours ago. So, here it is!

What if I do not have a heart?
The sun came in through the broken window hours ago after work so hard in the new Stark Tower... Damn. Avengers Tower. I was so tired. Pepper slept on the couch like an angel or like a baby... or like something cute.
I saw her for a few minutes. After, I rose from my seat, I walked toward her and I sat down on the ground, by her side. I stroked her hair, her eyebrows and her lips. She was so tired that didn't wake up, something I appreciated because in that moment, I really didn't want to talk.
I stepped on the hole: The Loki's body brand after the beating that my big green friend gave him. And I missed the entire theater function…
Oh yes… That day, minutes before the Hulk punches, I talked with Loki.
Oh Jesus, he was so nervous! I could saw his fear… I think. At least, I saw it clearly when he awoke, after the end of the battle against the Chitauris.
Loki tried to become me in one of his lead soldiers. But his scepter didn't work.
"It usually works" He said in that moment, when I felt the tip of the scepter in my chest. Actually, in my ARC Reactor.
"Performance issues, you know…" I answered.
But the question was. Why didn't work?
I saw my little blue light of life in my chest and I smiled.
Could it protect me too much? Even of an alien weapon? Because it wasn't an Asgardian scepter, according to the thunder guy, Thor.
Oh Boy… But Clint "Tiny Arrows" Barton said that Loki told him, before touch him with his scepter "You have heart". I saw my chest again and I frowned.
I took a deep breath and I sighed.
What if I don't have a heart?
Fuck you deer head!
In fact, my heart depended of the ARC Reactor. So my new heart was…
"Tony?"
Pepper smiled me when I saw her seconds later.
"Yes, honey?"
"In what are you thinking?" She asked, kissing my fingers.
"In… Forget it".
Real heart or not, something was making me love Pepper more than my life itself.
"I love you".
"So am I, Tony!" and then she kissed me.
"Ehm… Sir?"
"What, JARVIS?"
"The press conference must start in an hour. I think you and Miss Pepper should be prepared".
"Thank you, JARVIS. Let's go, Pepper".
"Did you sleep?"
"Yes" I lied.
She raised her eyebrows. She didn't trust me. And she had her reasons.
"Do you want a cup of coffee?"
"It would be nice, thanks".
She kissed me again and I saw her walk out of the place.
"The suits still having problems, JARVIS?"
"I think so, sir".
"Fix it. Today must be ready. There's a work to do".
