Another Way To Say Goodbye
A/N: Set during "Skeletons In The Closet." I actually wrote this on the thirteenth, but got too busy to post it here until now.
He apologizes, says that he shouldn't have let things get so screwed up. But he's not alone. She should have said something, brought it to his attention, whether or not he was aware. But she didn't. She sat back, imagining, and hoping, that, eventually, he'd forget about Korra, and remember to look her way every now and then.
She touches him, her fingers holding onto the sleeve of his disguise.
"I care about you, too," she says.
As he resumes the mask to turn and walk away, she stands alone, her arms still at her sides.
They both care, but it's not enough. He cares more for the Avatar. The words mean everything to her, but they just another way to say "goodbye."
