Disclaimers: I don't own Xena or Gabby
Notes in general:A couple of Xena poems, the last things from my old account. Done transfering, yay. I can delete that one now I guess. Updates on this aren't likely.
Notes on 'Be a Lady, Be a Bitch': Me musing on militent feminism and Amazons
Notes on 'Everything I Know I Learned From Xena' or 'I Know I've Learned': I'm not sure if I was writing this as Gabby after Xena's last death in FIN, as a fan looking back at a good show that's overor as highschool student looking back on their middle school obsession and what they've learned from it, read it how you'd like.
Be a Lady, Be a Bitch
When I was a little girl
I wanted to grow up to
Be an Amazon, fierce
And Free, a fighter and
A friend, a goddes yet
Mortal, I wanted to be
The untimate woman
But be free from any
Man. Now I'm not a
Little girl, but it's still
My wish to someday
Be an Amazon, but
What does that mean
To me? In this world,
It seems a woman is
Never truely free, either
A bitch or a pushover,
I guess 'bitch' is better
Suited to me. A bitch is
Strong and independant
No one will step on her.
If she were a man, she'd
Be a hero, but she can't
Because she is, indeed,
A 'her' and not a 'him'
Wile a bitch speaks her
Mind, a pushover hides
And does exactly what
She is told, she's dainty
And nurturing, she's a
Real life, grown up Barbie.
Sad how little times have
Changed. Sad how hard
We must strive for a better
Tomorrow, for improvement.
Everything I Know I Learned From Xena
A warrior princess once taught me that women have wings,
That angels aren't always angelic,
And that insanity and genious are similar things.
A warrior princess once showed me how to escape
Into my imagination and find a better place,
How to write stories, how to weave pictures with words.
A warrior princess once told me,
It's okay to stand up and fight,
Idiots being evil simply isn't right.
So much I know I've learned from Xena
But most of all, I've learned
All good things must come to an end,
Though sometimes it seems absurd.
