Shock was the first thing she felt. Her body buzzed and tingled, originating from the wound to her chest in which Asura's hand still stuck through. She couldn't really feel anything; she thought she was floating on a cloud. Just that sense of flying, or falling she wasn't sure. Her body felt calm for a while. And then the pain started. She felt the urge to cry out at the pain, the scream itself rising in her throat before sticking. Then the choking began, blood flowed freely from her mouth down her chin and dripped on the arm in front of her. Her ears buzzed and rang, not allowing her to hear the voices calling out to her in fear and worry. Her eyes began to blur and dark spots appeared in her vision. The scream of pain was still stuck in her throat but finally rose up and came out. However it was only a small squeak from the large scream it would have been a moment earlier.

Asura decided at that moment to retract his arm, she didn't scream this time though. Her body began to fall, once again becoming numb. She didn't understand how she was still even alive. However she knew she wouldn't be for long. As she saw herself get farther from the kishin she felt a sense of peace fall over her body. Suddenly she stopped falling and she could feel pins and needles on to spots on her arms and around her middle. She tried to blink away the dark spots in her vision and looked up. Soul was there, his face leaned over hers and she could see his eyes were watery, as if he was about to cry.

Don't cry for me, she thought in her head, her voice not working. She tried to lift a hand, but it wouldn't move so instead she tried for a smile to reassure him. However this seemed to back fire as she saw tears begin to roll down his face. She tried for speech again, trying to get out two words over the blood still flowing lightly from her mouth and throat.

"No….t c…coo….cool" she whispered before coughing racked her body. She felt the arms wrap tighter around her as the coughing finally began to subside. Soul started to say something but she still was unable to hear any sounds. The ringing was still in her ears so she tried for reading his lips. This was hard because he was talking a little too quickly and she only caught snippets.

"Maka….. With…. Don't…. anywhere" she read on his lips. She tried to smile again but it came out as a wince. She knew she was losing a lot of blood, and she knew she only had a bit of time left. She wondered whether to tell him her feelings for him but she mentally shook herself. She didn't want to cause any more heartache so she would keep it to herself. She felt her own tears begin to fall from her eyes at the unspoken words. Closing her dropping eyes briefly before opening the again she let out what she knew was her last smile before she spoke the words that came to mind. Surprisingly her voice came out clear.

"Was I cool enough?" she asked him. She saw his face scrunch up and the shake of his shoulders as he wiped his face. He then nodded, giving her a toothy smile.

"Always…. Were"

Good, she said to herself in her mind. Her body began to feel warm and she felt her eyes begin to close, drooping into an endless slumber.
