"Just give up Dad." Lloyd said, in an almost begging tone, "It would be easier on both of us…"
"Never!" Garmadon declared. "Never call me 'Dad' again! Understand me boy? Never!"
Lloyd backed up a bit. He wasn't a boy anymore, in fact, he was a full grown adult and recognized everywhere as the Green Ninja; Protector of Ninjago. But the words still hurt. This was his father, the man that helped see to his birth and a good bit of his childhood. They had a bond sacred to nature, and now… this…
"You have a choice." Lloyd tried again. "We can still be a family again. I'm sure there's a way to get the Great Devourer's venom out of your body. Please Dad… listen to me!"
Garmadon snarled, but said nothing. Although an adult Lloyd stood in front of him, he saw that goofy little dork of a kid that Lloyd once was. The child was full of potential and promise, even if it was to destroy his own father in the end. He was too much like Wu... too much...
"There is no way to extract the Great Devourer's venom, if there was, we wouldn't be here now." Garmadon told his son with a sneer.
"I don't care." Lloyd declared. "There's a way to undo everything."
"No there isn't you idiot."
Lloyd blinked and said nothing for a while.
"There is." He finally said. "The Green Ninja is the Savior of Ninjago, with abilities beyond imagination. I think I can do what no one or anything else in this universe can do; save you… and our family."
"And how do you propose to do that?" Garmadon demanded.
Lloyd looked grave as he slowly walked up to his father. Garmadon himself stared at the ninja, trying to calculate what his son would do next. But what Lloyd did surprised him; Lloyd gave Garmadon a heartfelt hug that was long overdue.
"I love you Dad, and don't ever forget it." Lloyd said softly, "No matter what happens to us, I will always love you."
At first, Garmadon wasn't sure how to respond. But he slowly returned the gesture.
"I… love you too… son." Garmadon slowly said, almost like he didn't believe the words coming out of his mouth.
Then, before the other could react quickly enough, a fateful blow to the back sealed fate and destiny… forever.
