A light breeze, drops of glimmering dew and a warm streak of sunshine. The glow of orange and yellow on the trees enlightening the isolated battlefield. Over past the warehouse a field lies, stained with dandelions and sharp fall grass A scout lies. He looks to the east as the sun peaks over the hills. The clouds burst with a warm shade of gold and a pink stream taints the horizon. He sits beneath a old oak tree with his hat in his lap and his head rested on his arm. A small bunch of daises sit in a vase, no water within but he seems only to pay attention to the sun. The welcoming feel of the sun rising up in the morning for you just to bring your life light and joy, he loves it. Suddenly, he picks up the daises and steps to his feet. The grass sprays up into the air behind him as he runs at the rise with the vase and daises reached out at the slow upward moving sun. Light pours over the hills and fills the plains while scout stands atop a hill with his hands above his head and a small bouquet of sun bathing daises. After taking a quick glance down at the flowers he turned over the the tree and paced back. Everything seemed so much brighter. so much more full of life and joy. Bowing his head he held the flowers to his lips, so he could feel the velvet like touch of the petals and gave each flower head a soft kiss. A teardrop fell onto the rim of the glass in a way that is glided around it like an ice skater, dainty and elegant. Below his feet rested 3 gravestone's that read in crude carvings. Medic, 1966-2012, sniper 1973-2012 and soldier 1962-2011. His trusted partners in combat and dear friends when all buried here, where scout had placed his hand carved stones. He kept them together, he wanted to. He wanted to be sure they would always be so that he could see them all together. Engineer walked up from behind and placed his hand on scout shoulder "Son, I miss em' too. What you did for them just shows how much you care. You've got some heart boy". Without turning his head scout replies with a smile and joy filled voice "I know. I know they know. There probably up there right now laughing at me for being such a softie. I guess some things neva change eh?""guess they don't boy, guess they don't" THE END
