Where I come from, everything was grey; boring, blunt grey.

It was a small pride, actually, I wouldn't even call it a pride. It was only me and my grandmother.

I've always dreamed of leaving, I supposed once I was old enough, I would run away.

Yet, that wasn't necessary now; considering the fact my grandmother decided it would be best to migrate and merge with a bigger, more successful pride.

So, here we were, walking along the savannas in search for at least some refuge.

"Reed, look!"

I looked up in the direction my grandmother was pointing to, "what is it?"

My eyes gazed at a giant structure: huge rocks, it seemed, stacked together. A united diversity functioning as one body. All dependent of each other, no part independent of another.

It was, breathtaking.

"Our new home," my grandmother said in awe. "If we get accepted."

I heard her mutter something else, but didn't listen. I was preoccupied, staring at, with a closer look, a cave. A cave, where lions lived; lions in a pride, a pride I could belong to!

Now, so close to the cave, I saw a sturdy golden figure standing by the rocky stairway, leading to, what I assumed, the cave inside the structure.

"Shh, you mustn't talk," Grandmother ordered.

I obeyed, and followed her silently to the sunny-yellow lion, waiting for us.

He looked strong, very strong. Obviously prideful, he sat with a serious expression on his face.

"How may I help you, rouges?"

"Hello, sir," she humbly smiled with a bow. "We seek shelter, and humbly ask to speak to the leader of this pride."

"You're speaking to him."

She bowed.

"Your Majesty, we've been searching long and hard for a place of refuge, and we've stumbled across this fine land-" she offered a disarming smile-"may this be the end of our tiresome searching?"

The king replied with a kind smile, "I see no threat...you are welcomed."

Yes, we were accepted.

As we followed the king inside the cave, which he explained was called Pride Rock, Grandmother and him talked with hushed voices.

I looked around the stone cave: it was empty.

"Where are the other lions?" I asked, hoping there were cubs my age to play with.

The King laughed, "the lioness are hunting, they should be here soon, and the cubs are by the watering hole."

I looked at my grandmother, silently pleading to go to the watering hole.

"Where is it?" Grandmother asked.

"I'll show you," he replied, "I'm sure the cubs will enjoy a new friend."

We followed him to a small lake, on the other side were a small group of cubs laughing and playing tag.

"They are over there, playing tag. I know they will love to meet you."

"Have fun," Grandmother said, "and, Reed."

"Mhm?"

"Stay out of trouble."

I laughed and ran off to the other side to of the lake.

Author's Note: Short? Yes...good? I hope so...please review. I'll try to update as fast as possible with a much longer chapter(about 2k) to make up for this super short introduction.

Please Review! :)
