She hadn't always lived in the dark. Sometimes - when she was young - she
had
laughed. Played. Felt.happy. But that was before she knew what she was. That was
before she discovered the monster in her core...before she found the demon spawn that
was herself. Most of the light that had dwelled in her departed, and she hid herself behind
black crow wings.
^^*^^ Then she had met them. They were so young, filled with love, happiness, and
caring. They brimmed with the glow she had never had, and between themselves created
a bond she did not quite understand. So she tagged along, pretended that she cared about
them, pretended that they cared about her. It occurred to her a few times that maybe they
did.but she regarded their "friendship" as a fleeting thing. They would abandon her in
fear and scorn if red raven inside her ever rose against them. So she cut them off, to keep
from hurting them, and to keep them from hurting her.
^^*^^
They were.friends. They fought side by side, ate pizza, hung out, and all of that
'teen bonding' stuff. But nothing satisfied her. She derived no pleasure from being with
them, no happiness from their antics. She was unsure of her purpose in life. Still, she
dragged her way through the days, hiding her weariness and confusion behind a billowing
cloak and hood. The blackness she had hidden herself behind seeped into her, dimming
the last happiness from her soul. The white raven that had waited in her, hoping one day
to once more spring to life, flew South, not expecting to return.

Well? Decent? Depressing? Not Good? Bad? Not Good?
