McKinley High's Glee Club
Chapter #1
I yawned. It was 7 AM, two hours until school started. McKinley High, get ready to meet Lena Roseheart. I struggled to sit up, my legs stiff. I slept too long, I guess. I groaned, and pulled on my glasses. Then checked my phone.
I pulled on a pair of black jeans and a black top. I was kind of goth, if you like. I mean, I was a nerd too. It doesn't really mix. I mean, how did glasses make you a nerd? They didn't, not really. Unless you read a lot, which I did. I literally took books to my previous school. Technically, a library is my second home. Then the toilet, which I spend roughly an hour a day watching Youtube videos, playing Temple Run, et cetera.
About half an hour later, I am shoveling a bacon and egg sandwich in my mouth. It's okay, I guess, but Mom needs to lay off proper breakfast. I'm fine with a slice of toast or a bowl of cereal, maybe even Pop Tarts, but Mom's strict about my health. I don't know why-I'm already anorexic. I have a rough copy of my timetable in my bag, but it's ripped and torn, so I'm going to ask for a new one today. I pull my earphones in and I flip through my iPod classic to find a new song-Don't Stop Believin'. It's a good song-I've heard it before, but I've never thought it was catchy or good. Who had uploaded it?
Another half-hour later, I jump in my second-hand pickup, and pull off. I'm stopping at Walmart before and buying a notebook and sketchbook for my free time-I've got to admit, I am a nerd. In my bag is Beautiful Creatures, City of Bones, and Clockwork Angel. Cassie and Kami are amazing. One day, I want to be a singer or an author. But my hopes are silly, and they will never be true.
I turn the radio on. It's playing Imagine Dragons, which are truly a band I love. There songs are great. I used to listen to them on Youtube before I got my iPod and downloaded their whole album. I also am fully devoted to Paramore. Hayley Williams is my idol.
I pull into the student's car park about ten minutes later after picking up my sketchpad and notebook. I'm a good artist, but not as good as a writer or a singer. My voice, as I've been told, is like an angel's. I think it's just a compliment. I've heard my recordings. And they're not that good.
I'm probably one of the first people here, but I notice a girl with brown hair. She's extremely pretty, and looks friendly, so I walk up to her.
"Hi," I say. I don't know her. "I'm Lena Roseheart, I'm new."
"I'm Marley Rose," the girl-Marley Rose is her name-says. She smiles slightly. "Are you a junior?"
"Wow. Can you, like, read minds?"
"No." The girl says. "I'm just friendly."
I have a feeling I'm going to like this girl. I notice she pulls out a flyer, swirls and blue ink everywhere.
"Glee club," she says softly. "You should audition."
She walks away, and I'm left there, holding a flyer.
