Title: A Gentleman

Pairing(s): None, really. Lucius/Narcissa implied

Notes: This is the result of a challenge from a friend of mine. I had to use this: "But I don't see why we can't at least give it a shot." Draco raised a pale eyebrow, fixing him with an icy stare. "Because blondes prefer gentlemen. That's why." exactly as written. This is what came of it.

A Gentleman

"What the hell do you think you're doing?"

The man leaving the Malfoy parlor turned to see Draco Malfoy leaning casually against a banister, cold gaze fixed on him. Thomas Avery sneered at the younger man. "I hardly think my dealings with your mother are any of your business, Draco. Why don't you leave adult affairs to the grown-ups."

Draco's eyes flashed. "When your 'affairs' begin to include my mother, they become my business. I'll repeat: what the hell do you think you're doing?"

Avery leered slightly. "Just becoming acquainted. Surely you know your mother is a lovely woman, and with your father out of the picture–"

His words were cut off by Draco's fist. The young man had crossed the foyer in a few swift steps and driven his curled fingers into Avery's jaw, knocking him down. "What the–" Draco glared at him as he sputtered, scrambling to his feet.

"Don't ever come here again. Leave my mother alone. She's out of your league."

"Surely that's for us to decide, but I don't see why we can't at least give it a shot."

Draco raised a pale eyebrow, fixing him with an icy stare. "Because blondes prefer gentlemen. That's why. You are not a gentleman; you are a snake, and my mother is still married to my father." He turned toward the staircase. "Now get the hell out of my house."
