Chapter One
The new Friend.
The day was lonely, and a boring one to boot. Amy sat alone in her house, as she let out a sigh that would make even Shadow feel sympathy for her. She was missing Sonic, he hadn't been seen in awhile. Avoiding her again, as per the norm, or was he out fighting Eggman again? She may not have known where he was, but she did know he wasn't here with her. Big was probably too busy fishing with Froggy to keep her company, and Cream was currently on vacation with Miss Vanilla. Amy flipped through her channels, when suddenly, an announcer began talking,
"Are you or someone you know lonely?" At this, Amy sat up straighter and listened to the TV. "If the answer is yes, why not come down to The Chao Farm. We have thousands of Chao rescued from cruel, abusive, and neglecting owners, and all they want is love. So, if you or that certain someone is in need of a friend, come to The Chao Farm." Amy was sold, as she drove down there.
Upon arrival, she found a woman sitting at a desk.
"Welcome," said the woman, with a smile on her face, and a cheery demeanor, "Would you like to adopt or are you just visiting?"
"Adopting," said Amy, returning the smile,
"Before you go in," she said, "I need a down payment of ten rings." Amy had that amount, and handed it to the woman. "Thank you," she said. "You'll find the adoption center by turning left in the hall." The woman hit a button, and a click was heard, telling Amy she could enter. She went in the door, and turned left as instructed.
The room she walked into was a sight to behold. THOUSANDS of Chao filled the room. They were in a wide array of colors. Some the normal blue and yellow, while others were bleached white, blue, pink, and many other colors. Amy walked in, her breath taken from her. Suddenly, she was approached by a man.
"Hello," he said, "my name is Chip. When you find the Chao you want, bring it to me at that desk over there." He pointed to a large brown desk in a corner, with some Chao climbing on it. Chip returned to his desk, and fed the Chao at the desk. Amy began trying to find a good Chao for her.
She soon saw it. It was a Chao of the normal color, but something about it reached out and touched Amy's heart. She picked up the Chao, and it snuggled into her. She was sold. She went to the desk where Chip was, as he gently took the Chao off his desk.
"Please fill out this form," he said, handing her a white piece of paper and a pen. Amy began to fill out the form.
The first question asked for her name, last and first. The second question asked her address. The third question wanted her contact information, including home and cell phone numbers and email address. The fourth question asked for the Chao's name, which she called Dexter. The fifth and final question asked for her signature.
"Amy," said Chip in a serious tone, after looking over the form, "Dexter has a chip implanted in its brain, and if he's abused, neglected, or any other bad treatment, it will send us a signal, and we'll call the police. Are we clear?"
"Yes," said Amy. Chip's smile returned, "Good." He said, "You are now the owner of Dexter." Here's a Chao caretaking guide, as well as a certificate that you own the Chao." Amy took both, and left with her new Chao.
"Let's get you home," said Amy, "you're going to love my house." With that, Amy drove back home, unwary of a sinister figure following her with its eyes.
Ooh, the story just started, and already the plot is thickening. I made a reference to Sonic Chronicles, see if you can find it.
