The Lost Mages; prologue

It is said that in the ancient days of Hyrule there was a respected group of Mages that brought balance to the magic that powered Hyrule's life. The Mages worked and watched over the land for centuries and all was well, until a dark power broke into the land in hopes of seizing that magic for itself. The Mages fought hard to expel the dark power from Hyrule, but the darkness was too powerful and the Mages were shut away, lost forever, leaving the Great Goddesses no choice but to seal the dark power away.

With the Mages lost, the magic that was once so lively in Hyrule slowly faded away, until it was barely a whisper in the wind. People forgot of the magic that built their land, and they lived on, oblivious. But there was still hope, for in that little whisper of magic lived The Great Deku Tree, guardian of the forest, and two, strong, Sheikah women named Sheik and Impa. They believed that it was possible to revive that magic and find the Mages who had been lost. They discovered that the whole land, not only Hyrule, had been affected by the dark power's curse, and that among that whole land there was that same whisper.

The Great Deku Tree knew that though the magic was mostly gone there were still few who had magic in their veins. He and the two Sheikah women formed a school where they would help those few discover the magic in them and use it to help Hyrule, hopefully. They traveled across Hyrule and the surrounding lands searching for magic-folk, occasionally sending out helpers to search for them.

The one thing the three founders hoped, though, was that among these magicians they could find the one thing that could restore magic to the land completely.
