Author's Notes: It's a little late but this poem has been written in honor of all the people who suffered at the hands of Hurricane Katrina. That storm devastated so many lives not to mention New Orleans will never be the same again. So in short, this is a tribute to any and everyone who had to deal with Hurricane Katrina. The only reason why I put this poem under the Ninja Turtles section is because they have a lot of contact with humans. Plus the new show is set somewhere in 2000's so it just made more sense for me to put it under this category. You can imagine the poem to have been written by whichever main character you want but I purposely wrote this poem having the voice of a woman. If it helps, you can think of the poem as a mother comforting her child so to speak okay?

Disclaimer: This is my poem so no stealing or borrowing please. Thank you.

Despite the pain and the suffering,

Never forget who you are.

Despite the tears and the agony,

Never forget you are loved.

Despite the devastation and senseless violence,

Never forget there is still hope left.

Despite the blood and destruction,

Never forget you are a survivor.

Despite the uncaring and cold shoulders,

Never forget you are wanted.

Despite the hatred and prejudice,

Never forget that you can rise above it.

Despite the bitterness and regret,

Never forget that it wasn't your fault.

Despite the careless planning and botched rescue attempts,

Never forget that God was with you every step of the way.

Despite the overwhelming grief and tragedies,

Never forget that God was right there crying with you.

Despite the countless and irreplacable losses,

Never forget that their deaths weren't meaningless.

Despite the suffocating and cold numbness,

Never forget that you were meant to love one another.

Despite the heartache and heartbreak,

Never forget that your heart will heal.

Despite the questionable problems and screw ups,

Never forget that God was watching.

Despite the forgotten and seemingly unloved individuals,

Never forget that you are so loved.

Though the rain might have took your loved ones away,

Never forget that they are now in a better place with God.

And though the storm tried to kill your spirit,

Never forget that you are now stronger than you ever were before.

Because in the end, if you didn't learn anything else from Hurricane Katrina,

Remember that God will always be the ultimate pillar of strength and comfort during your trials and tribulations.
