Why Philip Anderson had to write his group assignment with the help of another person, was completely unclear to him. Firstly, he was top of his class, also in chemistry. Not one of his fellow students could possibly have anything to add to his assignment. They were a bunch of morons, and Philip always worked alone.

When writing chemistry papers, he never cooperated with other people. He made sure to pick the strangest and most difficult area he could think of, so that it would be next to impossible for the teacher to find a group in which he could work. That is, until the messy chain-smoker (and quite possibly something worse too) who never showed up did just that. Guess who else picked the hardest chemistry assignment. That's right, a person who usually didn't care to show up until after second period.

Philip had not expected to be placed in a group. To start with, he thought that this person needed help with chemistry, and had chosen the same assignment as him in order to learn something. Having sympathy with those who didn't have a brain like his, Philip decided to prepare some of his old notes so that this lazy, messy person could learn some basic chemistry while Philip wrote the whole assignment alone, and as usual, received an A+.

That was exactly what he told the lazy person who was probably staring intently at him from behind his curly, tangled head. To Philip's amazement, the boy, if he really was a boy, did not like to have Philip's chemistry notes explained thoroughly and shoved into his hands. He also didn't like it when Philip asked him whether he was trying to lower the IQ of the whole class by finally showing up.

Philip was quite happy when he finally got rid of him after calling his behaviour idiotic.
