Disclaimer: I wish I owned them. I wish they were real.
It was a vaugue realization, one day: she was in love with Ginny. Not a boy, but Ginny Weasley. She knew that normal girls were supposed to be in love with boys, but there was something so unappealing and real, about boys – no mystery. Ginny, however, Ginny was fascinating, a mystery to the tenth degree.
Ginny, who grabbed her hand and led her through a crowded hallway, pushing and shoving, certain as a rock that people would move. Ginny, who faought on her behalf, day in and day out (There was no sense in calling her 'Loony' if Ginny was around; she's punch you right in the face. It made Luna giggle.) . Ginny Weasley, her best friend. Ginny Weasley, who was in love with Harry Potter. Period.
She often wondered what it would be like to live in Ginny's hair. It was so soft and long – it could have housed an entire family of wood nymphs. Luna sometimes wished she was a wood nymph. She imagined a house made of the insides of Ginny's head – warm, painted red and gold, bright and flickering, like jeweled flames.
Everything about Ginny was beautiful.
She loved the xact contrasts they made to one another, physical and mental. Both pale-skinned, but Luna, with her large, sharp blue eyes and long blonde waves, and Ginny, hair fire-bright and stick straight, slightly taller, soft brown eyes that smouldered with every emotion that played across her freckled face. Luna so often flew off into daydreams, while Ginny stood with her feet firmly planted in reality, waging war against the agonies of everyday life. Luna liked that.
She liked the feel of Ginny's smooth arm, draped around her shoulders, protecting her from the taunts of Slytherins and Gryffindors alike. She liked the fire that rose in Ginny's cheeks when someone hurt her friend.
But she liked, most of all, the was Ginny blushed, when she gave her a very small, thank-you kiss on the cheek, and skipped off down the hallway. The way Ginny's hand came up, every-so-slowly, in contrast with her usual sharp, businesslike gestures, and touched the spot where Luna's lips had been.
She loved Ginny.
A/N: I know it's really short, sorry guys! : ( This is the first thing I've posted in such a long time, because I've been busy with my own work, so I apologise. It may or may not be more than a one-shot, depending on how much you like it. This is just fluff, but I might develop an actual plot, lol. I know it's different than the usual R/Hr one-shots I do, but hopefully I still have some fans left that will actually read it : )
Anyway, rest assured, I'm working on some new stuff, new pairings, and perhaps even a new fandom or two. So, review, and I'll see you all next time.
