I think I got her back. Did I? I don't know. I know I messed up, but I thought she understood ; it wasn't about her.
Halfway to his townhouse it occurred to Gil Grissom that he was, indeed talking to himself. A few minutes later he made it home. He stood there in their living room wondering if Sara would come home as well?
It had been an hour before he heard her key turning the lock, "Gil, are you in here?"
Walking towards her he couldn't find words for his actions, so he just pulled her in his arms and smiled. Finally he did speak, "Honey Thank god you're home. I missed you so much."
"I missed you too Gil." Sara said quietly as she listen to his heart beat relishing the feel of his arms around her again.
"Sara, honey did you find the present I left in my desk for you?"
"uhh…Yeah…" She said as she removed a CD from her purse taking it to the stereo System, she pushed play:
I'm
staring out into the night, Well
I'm going home,
Trying to hide the pain.
I'm going
to the place where love
And feeling good don't ever cost a
thing.
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.
Back to the place where I belong,
And where
your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No,
I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for
me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm
going home.
Well I'm going home.
The
miles are getting longer, it seems, So I'm going home, Be
careful what you wish for, Oh, well I'm going home,
The closer I get to you.
I've
not always been the best man or friend for you.
But your love, it
makes true.
And I don't know why.
You always seem to give me
another try.
Back to the place where I
belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm
not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't
regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces
are getting old,
So I'm going home.
I'm going home.
'Cause you just might get it all.
You
just might get it all,
And then some you don't want.
Be careful
what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just
might get it all, yeah.
Back to
the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been
enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all
wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these
places and these faces are getting old.
I said these places and
these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
I'm going
home.
Sara just stood there as the final cords of the song filled the room, letting her tears flow. Coming to stand behind her Gil whispered into her hair, "Sara I came home to you- You are my home. My time away made me see that this house…" He said as he looked around their home. "Is just a building, but when you're here it becomes home to me."
Turning in his arms she put her arms around his neck, "You're my home too, Gil and I love you."
Hearing those words, Gil Grissom new now his house again was indeed his home.
End
