Rolling thunder

This is a prompt fill for the USS Caryl Spring fling challenge. The time frame is between season two and three, after the fall of the farm.

I want to dedicate this to a couple of very special Caryl supporters: Sanja and Her very awesome mom. If you want wonderful Caryl analysis, Sanja is the lady to visit. Hugs to you love!

They had been on the road for weeks, always searching for more…

More food, more weapons, more shelter.

Something was in the air, something was coming.

Everyone was quiet, the silence hung like a heavy weight over them all.

Tensions had risen, arguments were breaking out.

Hopelessness seemed to reining supreme.

The forest held its breath, something was coming.

He didn't know what to do, how to break the pall that engulfed them

He watched her, wanting something

Her smile? Her words? Something.

She was stronger than he thought

Stronger than any of them thought.

She worked tirelessly always helping, always there

Something was coming

The heaviness surrounded her, wrapping her in a dimorphs web

Hiding her smile, muffling her words

He needed her, not this shell

He needed the one she was

He needed her to keep him grounded to make him whole

Where was she?

Who was this echo standing in her place?

Something was coming

He could feel the ionization in the air

Taste it on his tongue

Smell it drifting by

His chest hurt, he needed her

Where was she?

This was not her, this ghost that wouldn't meet his eyes

He felt something welling inside him,

He felt fear

Isolation

Desperation

It rolled through him, drowning him in loss

He needed her

Something was coming

Everything was silent as time stopped

The air was charged, it was here

The crashing sound, violent and deadly

Like gods of old waging an eternal battle

The heavens opened

A deluge of tears fell from the sky

As the others ran for cover

He watched her

Her head tossed back, arms stretched wide

She embraced the fury of the storm

Let it wash over her, through her

He watched as she let it take

Take all her woes and sorrow

Take her sadness and fear

He watched as the missing pieces of her

Were filled with a new passion, new life

Her joyous laugh echoed through the camp

Her smile lit the darkening sky

She looked at him

Her blue eyes flashing with life

His chest loosened

His peace found in those eyes, in that smile

Others slunk out of hiding

Seeing her joy

Drawn to her as he was

As one they celebrated the rebirth of the world

And themselves

AN: While things have been tough for Caryl shippers and Carol fans, we have been blessed to have someone like Sanja to be our healing rain. Brightest blessings to y'all. Carol and Caryl on!
