Disclaimer: I do not own Law and Order: SVU. Even though I kind of wish I did…
Well, here she was, standing by her car, at an abandoned lot with Detective Elliot Stabler standing next to her. He had called while she drove, and told her to pull over here.
All she had been doing was driving. Driving away from it all. From the SVU. From the little girl who had almost killed her. From Elliot. She knew staying would be detrimental. So she left. She had said her farewells.
But here he is. Now standing and talking with her. She didn't ask him to come. She really didn't want him here. But yet, she let it happen without protest.
Just like that kiss. The kiss they had shared just a few nights ago after a celebration. Sure, he had a wife, and even though she knew better, she had wanted it to happen. But she knew he was the one she would never have. So she wanted to leave.
With all this running through her mind, she had not really been paying attention to Elliot, but when she turned back to listen, she heard him say:
"Dani, I want you back. I need you with me." With a short pause, he soon added, "We can make it work. My wife, hell, my wife isn't even a problem. It's easy to say we're through. Trust me, nothing's a problem. Especially if it means getting you."
Dani wasn't going to lie; there had been many times she had waited for him to say this. She had wished he would say it. Say that he wants her, not the woman he married and had children with. It was silly to wish for. But now, she knew what to reply.
"No." she said. "Elliot, no. We can't. It's not fair to you, your wife. It's not fair to me. That's not the way this should happen. That's not the way it should go. I'm sorry Elliot. We need to move on."
With that remark, she turned away and walked to her car. She climbed in behind the wheel, and for a split second, she placed her forehead against the wheel. Then she places the key in the ignition, and drove. Away from Elliot. Away from it all.
Author's note: So, did you enjoy it? Please review with your answer! And yes, I know Elliot wouldn't act like that. However, for the sake of the story, I had to make him seem kind of mean. Now for dedications: this one again goes out to Stephanie. I've promised her one for almost ever, and now, here it is. So enjoy!
