It was over.
Alpha-152, the entire Project Epsilon, DOATEC's research on bio-weapons, all of it had burned to the ground. They had finished the fight.
Now, Kasumi stood across her brother Hayate, the super-ninja Ryu Hayabusa and her younger half-sister, Ayane.
Kasumi would be departing soon. Her helicopter was touching down behind a good few yards away on the deck of the ship. Kasumi's ginger locks framed her face beautifuly as the wind from the chopper's blades brushed past her.
The former runaway ninja girl smiled gently at her comrades. Hayate returned her smile with one of his own, nodding his head at her. Ryu looked as stoic and cool as he always did. His masked face betrayed no emotion, yet his eyes showed his approval.
And then, Kasumi's gaze, a warm amber, met Ayane's beautiful, exotic pools of crimson. The world around the two faded away; Hayate, Ryu, the helicopter in the background, Helena's ship. It was just them, Kasumi and Ayane, and the light of the setting sun reflected on the calm ocean waves.
Kasumi then confidently closed the distance between her and Ayane with but two confident strides of her long legs. She held in her hands the kunai with a violet petal attached to the hilt. She held Ayane's signature weapon like it were a treasure.
Then, the ginger reached one hand out to gently grasp Ayane's and then, place the kunai back in the hands of its owner.
Ayane's crimson eyes glimmered as she received this new gift, especially after her fingers brushed against a petal of two different flowers attached to the opposite side of the kunai's hilt.
Upon seeing the adorable look of confusion in the purplenette's beautiful eyes, Kasumi gave her a radiant smile before enveloping Ayane in her embrace.
The Hajin Mon ninja held her kunai in her hands and tightly against her bosom as her older half-sister hugged her, enveloped her in her warmth. Ayane felt at peace and loved.
After Kasumi pulled away, she gave Ayane a look that clearly asked for permission to do something. The girl closed her eyes and nodded her consent.
Then, the older half-sister did another exchange with her younger, beautiful sibling: she gently took Ayane's trademark violet off her black headband and placed that flower in her own hair and then, put a different flower instead in Ayane's hair, one of the two flowers she had attached to the girl's kunai.
After she was done, Ayane realized that this whole exchange went on while Hayate and Ryu looked on. The brown-haired ninja could not hold in a tiny chuckle while Ryu just stood there and looked cool. Ayane's face burned with a blush even more crimson than her own eyes.
However, the way that Kasumi caressed her cheek with the back of her fingers made the embarrassing situation bearable, at least.
"This isn't a farewell, Ayane-chan. I'll see you around?" Kasumi cooed, twinkling eyes and beaming smile, plus a cute tilt of the head with her ginger locks looking fiery-red under the light of the sunset.
"Y-Yes…Nee-san. See yo around…" Ayane held her gaze, yet her voice became softer as she spoke her piece.
With another beaming smile, Kasumi turned around and walked off towards her transport.
As the helicopter began to lift off, Kasumi looked out the passanger seat's window to give Ayane another warm smile and a tiny hand wave before the chopper turned and took her to wherever she needed to be.
After her older sister left, Hayate and Ryu walked off to finally get some rest after the battle-filled last week, yet Ayane remained on the ship's deck, staring off in the direction Kasumi's helicopter flew off.
She held her kunai like it was a treasure, gently tracing the red rose petal attached to the hilt. The light of the sunset also made the flower in Ayane's hair contrast beautifully with her rich-violet locks: the flower was a pure-white lily.
