Hey, here I am for a new fanfiction about Konoka and Setsuna! I use a bit of Japanese words so, for those who don't know, I'll write the meaning in the end of the chapter (words marked with a * will be described). Enjoy your reading!
I'll cheat destiny just to be near you
Chapter 1 : Just a moment
Ah, morning… what a calm, peaceful moment… sunshines caressing your face, the dew tickling your nose… and that inhuman power that glues you to your bed, making you unable to wake up. Or, perhaps, the desire not to get up because you know something unpleasant is going to happen in this day.
This was exactly how Konoka Konoe-san felt. She was fifteen, but in contrast to most of teenagers of her age, she was feeling happy to live. Everyday, life seemed to smile at her, and she smiled back. Was she naive? Of course not. She just learned during her short life that every moments had to be cherished, unless you want regrets. And, to her, nothing could be worse than regrets. But that day was special, because she had to attend an omiai*.
She hated omiai. She could not stand those old men, who had already lived twice her own life, and who imagined spending the rest with that innocent girl. She wanted to enjoy her youth, she wanted to feel free. Of course, she liked cooking and cleaning, but she wanted to do it as a friend for her friends, and not as a wife.
"Ojou-sama… It's time."
"Uh, a bit more…"
"But you'll be late…"
"Doesn't matter."
Setsuna-san sighed. Her duties as a bodyguard were forcing her to make Konoka-san attend the omiai.
"I'm so sorry, but you need to get up."
Deep inside herself, she hated it too. She was having a hard time trying to accept the fact her protected was so upset. At least, that was the reason she gave to Kamo-kun when he was teasing her.
"Okay, I get it."
The young middle schooler stretched. In this bunk bed, she occupied the lowest one. She shared that room with Asuna, who had to distribute newspaper early in the morning. Konoka was used to get up at the same time to cook breakfas for her, but she definitely could not get up that day.
So, Setsuna-san was alone with her. She was kneeling, with a straight back, proud, and was showing a feelingless face typical of her capacity : she had to protect Konoka-san.
Konoka-san got up. Her face seemed to be just depressed, and it was making her protector unhappy. That last got up too and say with a voice full of compassion :
"Konoka…"
Who suddenly smiled.
"But first… hug!"
Out of the blue, the little cunning girl jumped at her friend and hugged her. They both fell on the ground, Setsuna was sitting while Konoka was half-laying, in her arms.
"O-Ojou sama! What's happening!?"
No response.
"Ojou-sama?"
"I'm sorry, Secchan… I can't look like a happy girl today…"
Silence.
"Please… just today… just those little minutes… forget about your job, forget about your convictions… just hold me in your arms…"
And, without a word, the warrior who became just a friend, narrowed her slight but muscular arms around her protected.
omiai : an omiai is a Japanese custom meaning to marry two people. This is pretty most like an arranged wedding. Most of time, the wife is way younger than her husband.
