Hey-ho. I'm uploading the story now! Not just a bit or a song, it's the story!

Again: I don't own Frozen, its plot or its characters (Disney does). Only this fanfiction and my OCs.

For those who don't know what it is about yet: It's not just a 'What if there was another one like Elsa?'-story or a 'What if there is someone with the power over fire?'-story. There already are those storys on FanFiction here (no offence against these). Its also a partial-genderbended story (not all are genderbended, just Elsa, Anna and Kristoff) and you can also see it as an AU if you like it since it doesn't always go along with the movie from Disney and I've put a few OCs inside. I also try to fill a few plotholes. This is the first story.

Summary:

Princess Iria knows her cousin Queen Tinna only for a few months. The alrashian princess kind of knows that Tinna was once a princess in hiding, but that the now-Queen also had fire powers? After this revelation the Queen also tells the princess a story about these powers and Iria learns of things she would never have thought of her cousin doing them.

Please READ and ESPECIALLY REVIEW so I can make it better. This story's quality depends on it!

Update: I really hated the original prologue and just couldn't let it be like that. I had to edit it, since people probably read the first part here and thought "Nah, if it's all like that I rather not read that story"! I tried to write a few things more logical (although I still think that there is something I should have wrote better, that's why I need you reviewers!) and also tried to make more sense in it. But there is still no gurantee for the gramar! Still need to find a beta for that!

(Limited 3rd person P.O.V. on Iria)

The church was full of people and she was standing next to the altar waiting for her cousin. Iria didn't know what she should think of it. She didn't even know what she should think of her cousin Tinna who was nervously walking towards at the altar while the chorus was singing. But the fifteen-year-old couldn't blame her for her cousin's nervousness. It was after all the big day for her.

And yet, she didn't knew very much about Tinna Ibicus. Well Iria only knew her barely for five months so it wasn't a real surprise. She knew besides that Tinna was eighteen for six months and she also knew how her cousin looked like: tanned skin like most Ibicus had, amber eyes like her grandfather's, a round nose like the one Iria had, an oval-shaped face and thick braided hair that was coal-black expect for a snow-white curly streak over her forehead. She also wore a flame-coloured alrashian dress with an orange corset, very light coloured sleeves and a rose-red cape.

As Tinna arrived at the altar the chorus stopped singing. The girl kneed down in front of the altar so the priest could crown her. When this was done Iria's cousin rose high with the alrashian crown on her head.

Now Tinna had to take symbolically the sceptre and the imperial orb and turn towards the crowd which stood up. The priest then said words Iria didn't understood, but she knew it was important that they are being said.

Iria scanned the crowd. There were many royal ambassadors from faraway lands and also some princes and princesses who were there for courting. She saw two princes waving slightly at Tinna … She remember seeing them once while visiting a foreign kingdom…

There were also some alrashian noblemen from which Iria knew very well that they could be dangerous for her cousin. She must later warn her cousin about them. And then she recognized the duke of Weselton. Oh, joy. Her cousin will have a hard time with him.

And then there was her father Bicio. Iria's eyes narrowed as she saw him and he gave her a look full of hatred back. Bicio Daracu wasn't her real father by any means. He wasn't even a relevant to the royal family, but a noble who somehow managed it to marry Iria's mother after her husband died. It was a mystery to everyone how he managed it.

According to some rumours, he blackmailed or forced the crown princess of Alrasha into this marriage. Some go even that far and say, that Bicio even killed the father of Iria himself, although there was no evidence for it.

Two years later, Iria herself was only ten, the crown princess died as well. A lot of people thought that the Daracu noble had something to do with it, though Iria knew better. Her stepfather might be cruel and want to seizure power, but it would have also been stupid of him, if he murdered her before he became the King. Iria still had a greater claim to the throne than her stepfather. And he was traveling into another country searching for something at the time the death of Iria's mother happened so Bicio couldn't have done that.

This still doesn't mean that he was happy about Tinna's existence. As Iria and her grandfather met her by pure coincidence on a visit to another kingdom a few months ago and found out who she was, Bicio even accused her of being a fraud.

"And even if she is the daughter of the lost prince", he have added after it was proofed. "She has never been in Alrasha before and doesn't know anything about it, not to mention how to reign a kingdom!"

Iria's cousin proofed him wrong again and returned to Alrasha. Ever since then Iria's stepfather was much more biter and hateful than before. Iria on the other hand was glad, that her lost cousin didn't turned automatically into another foe. Bicio was foe enough for the princess …

"… Queen Tinna of Alrasha", the priest finally said and it echoed through the crowd. Said Queen then put the sceptre and the imperial orb back and faced the crowd again with a soft smile.

Iria smiled as well at the successful coronation but then it broke. She looked down to her yellow gloved hands and remembered. There was another thing she had to tell her cousin sooner or later.

"Queen Tinna of Alrasha", was called out and the Queen went in front of the crowd who was bowing towards her. "Princess Iria of Alrasha." Iria elegantly walked up right next to her cousin and the crowd also bowed towards her and clapped.

Then the music started and everyone attended their own business. Iria sighed. She wondered when she should tell her cousin. Now wasn't exactly the best time of course, but perhaps after the party? Or should it better be on New Year's Eve? Heck, the princess wasn't even sure how she should tell her cousin! Queen Tinna seemed so far to be a reasonable person to the princess, yet would she understand something as big as this?!

"So, that's what a party looks like", the princess heard somebody say. She turned her head and realized that the Queen talked to her. Wait! Did she just really said what she said?

"Have you never been on one before?" Iria asked her surprised and forgetting her previous worries. If this was true, it could become a problem later. The alrashian crown have always set many celebrations and feasts and Iria had been on at least thirty of them so she could learn how to behave in the presence of nobility and royalty. And that was also the reason why she knew, that the alrashian nobility was completely spoiled by these events.

"I actually kind of attended one, but I didn't see much of it", her cousin admitted.

"You should better get used to it" the princess mumbled more to herself than to her cousin.

"I just hope I won't make a fool out of myself tonight."

"I would rather worry about other things."

"Other things?"

"Yeah", Iria replied not really seeing a reason not to tell her. "Well, now that you are the Queen everyone with a title across the world will try to take some influence on you, especially since nobody knew of you before."

"In which ways?" Queen Tinna curiously asked.

"You know, the usual", the princess started leaving 'your majesty' out since she knew that her cousin wouldn't like that anyway. "Courting, bribery, blackmailing, denouncing, threating, drugging …"

"Wait, what?"

"… betraying, kidnapping, poisoning, assassination …" Iria continued listening the things up that came in her mind. "And of course there is also murdering and ra-"

"Alright!" her cousin hastily interrupted her. "I can think that part of it for myself!"

Awkward silence followed. Neither of them knew what to say or what to talk about, so they just observed the party and their guests. Iria's stepfather very often (never without missing to glare very intesly at Tinna for some reason) introduced dukes, nobles, barons, ambassadors from other countries and also princes and princesses from the neighbour kingdoms and even to the Queen from the Royal Isles and her oldest son. Tinna politely turned down the invitation to dance with the prince. Iria rose an eyebrow at that.

"What?"

"You just refused to dance", the princess almost exclaimed.

"And?"

Iria sighed. Of course her cousin haven't been prepared for everything.

"As a Queen many people will expect you to dance at balls. It may be misinterpret as rude to turn an offer down."

"Why should it be rude? The Queen of the Royal Isles obviously wanted to pair me off with her son!"

The princess had a hard time holding her laugher back. She had to admit that her cousin had sometimes funny ideas about some banal things.

"Actually, a dance doesn't need to have a romantic reason behind it", Iria explained. "Here, on the level we are, it's more likely platonic and has mostly a pure political reason behind it. A dance gives the ideal opportunity to talk in private. I mean, try to eavesdrop a dancing couple. Refusing to dance is in the extreme case basically like saying 'I don't want do anything with you.'"

"Oh, my!" Tinna sighed slowly piecing it together. "So you mean, she just wanted to talk to me through her son?"

"Something in that direction", the princess confirmed. "But don't worry; Queen Victoria is actually a very understanding and patient women. She'll eventually see that this was a slip-up based on inexperience. And between us; I could see her asking you herself for a dance so you'll get the massage."

Both laughed about the picture they formed in their heads.

Suddenly, there was confusion written all over the Queen's face. Was something wrong? The princess already wanted to scan the crowd and search for something suspicious as she heard her cousin mutter something under her breath.

"No way …"

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine", the older girl replied.

Obviously a lie. However, before Iria could say anything to it Bicio interrupted her.

"Your majesty, the duke of Weasel Town", he announced.

"Weselton!" the duke corrected him. "It's Weselton your majesty."

Queen Tinna seemed for a very short second shocked and panicked before the Queen facade let her look calm. The duke and Bicio may not have noticed this, but princess Iria did. She could literally sense the nervous tension in her cousin. Seems like there is no real point in warning her about the duke.

"As your closest partner in trade it seems only fitting that I offer you your first dance as a queen."

The duke then done some random moves? Iria could at times like these not understand him at all. He then bowed revealing that he was wearing a toupee. However, this wasn't a surprise for the princess since she knew that he always wore one and also knew how fake his politeness could be.

"I appreciate it", Queen Tinna just replied not wanting to repeat her previous mistake. The duke of Weselton then took her hand and dragged her to the dancing floor leaving the princess with her stepfather alone.

"Just enjoy your party as long as you can", he sneered at her. "It won't take long until the storm rages on and messes up everything."

She glared at him. It has always been like this between her and her stepfather.

"I wonder, if you were actually referring to me messing up your plans of getting the kingdom", Iria countered and was amused as she saw that Bicio was livid. "You're in no position to treat me with your empty words."

"They are more than just empty words, you spoiled brat."

"And yet, they still don't frighten me at all", Iria replied bored as if she heard that every day (which was very close to the truth).

"Be careful with what you say, princess."

Bicio said the last word with so much reluctance and distaste that it was really hurting her. And it made her blood boil.

"I'm sorry to say, but it's not my fault that my mother died before you were crowned."

Now he glared at her. His eyes were slits.

"You may be dressed like a princess, you may act like one and you may even speak like one, but I know what you really are", he whispered to her.

Iria couldn't deny to herself that even she was a bit cowed by his words. Since he was her stepfather he knew of her secret and could seriously use it against her, if he told the right person. Yet she didn't back away that easily.

"And I know who you are, would-like-usurper."

He twisted his nose as if he smelled something awfully disgusting.

"I wonder what would happen, if I tell your cousin about your special condition."

The princess gasped. Treating to tell anything about that matter to her cousin was a different thing.

"You wouldn't dare to!"

"Why shouldn't I? It might be important to know for –"

"Excuse me, is here a problem?"

Both turned their heads around to see that the Queen have returned from her dance and hadn't enjoyed it. The serious and strict look on her face made Iria and her stepfather quiet in a heartbeat. If there was only one reason for the princess to respect her cousin, apart from her being Queen now, then it was this firm glare of hers.

"No, your majesty", Bicio replied cautiously and decided to leave. The Queen's gaze then softened into a worried look. It reminded Iria of her mother.

"Are you alright?" Tinna asked the princess.

"I'm fine."

"You're lying."

"You were a few minutes ago, too", Iria defended. "Besides, how was your dance with the duke of Weasel Town?"

The Queen rolled her eyes and chuckled.

"He is a horrible dancer", she explained. "I'm lucky he didn't wore heels otherwise I might not be able to walk now. He also wanted discuss about the trade agreements between Alrasha and Weselton and asked me a lot of noisy question about Arendelle and the royal family there. I think he looked out for blackmailing sources."

"That's the duke of Weasel Town for starters."

"And about what were you talking with Bicio that made you so anxious?"

Iria gulped. Of course Tinna was likely to catch up such things quickly.

"Nothing you should worry about."

"You're mumbling, Iria."

"It's nothing special."

"My cousin, tell me please what's bothering you."

"Why do you want to know it anyway?"

The princess felt like she was cornered against a wall. She nervously looked around to see, if anything strange happened. Nothing yet. Still she was getting stressed and this wasn't good. Bad things happen, if she was stressed.

"Because you're my only relative left and I want the relation between us to work out", the Queen explained concerned.

Iria finally calmed down and relaxed. Slowly a breath in and a breath out.

"I'm sorry", the princess said. "It's just a bit difficult to explain and hard to share it with others."

In the next moment, Iria wished, she wouldn't have said that. The mimics of realization of her cousin's face made her uncomfortable again. The Queen then bit on her lip as if she was thinking about a hard decision.

"May I talk to you in some place private?" she finally said.

"Um, sure", Iria replied a bit uneasy and followed Tinna outside to the balcony.

It was night so the sky was dark expect a few stars and the brightly shining moon. In the town that was around the palace were musicians playing their instruments and dancers dancing their dances to the honour of the Queen. Iria could faintly hear the closest group of bards singing a song:

"Born in heat and without care

In the burning mountain's firing

This fiery force for some a snare

So look out where you're aiming"

Queen Tinna sighed.

"Some people seem to think that the coronation and the party isn't celebration enough for me."

"Now break through this glass, black and queer

Watch your step and watch for your dear!

Light the darkness, fight the fear

Forgiveness is the start!

To calm the burning heart"

"They are just happy, that the traditions are continued", the princess said. "Your father was a firstborn and you are too."

"Hyup! Ho! Take a step! Don't let go!"

"I don't blame them for celebrating my return. They can sing as much as they want to celebrate it."

"Hyup! Ho! Take a step! Don't let go!"

"So what's wrong with it?"

"Curious!

Mysterious!

Marvellous!

Dark!"

"Nothing", her cousin reassured. "It's just that their singing and celebrating makes me realize what kind of responsibility I'm wearing on my shoulders. As their Queen there lays the weight of a whole kingdom on my shoulders."

"Obsidian is a mystery still unsolved"

"They are just hoping for the best. You are their first light they see since your father had to flee from here."

"Don't just try, you need to be sly!

To separate the truth from lie!"

"How much do you actually know about my father?" The Queen looked at her.

"Hyup!"

"Not much actually", Iria admitted. "He was my mother's older brother and he never really got along with the righteous order at the time it still existed. Some even say the righteous order was responsible for his vanishing. According to some rumours he had some kind of special gift."

"Born in heat and without care

In the burning mountain's firing"

"That is true", her cousin said.

"This fiery force for some a snare

So look out where you're aiming"

"I'm going to tell you a secret."

"A secret?" Now the princess was curious.

"Now break through this glass, black and queer"

"Can you promise me to keep it?"

"Watch out your step and watch for your dear!"

"I promise", Iria said after a while. If the Queen was ready to trust her that much, the princess didn't want disappoint her.

"Light the darkness, fight your fear"

"He actually had magical powers."

"He did?"

"Be brave to do the thwart!"

"Yes", Tinna said and hold hand out. Iria was puzzled by this until a fire inflamed there without forewarning. The princess looked up and saw that the Queen was smiling. The song was ending.

"Against the ruthless heart …"

"And so do I. He only had the power over storm and lightning instead of fire."

"Whoa", Iria awed. "How do you control it that well? I mean, how did you learn it?"

Her cousin laughed.

"I can tell you that it wasn't the easy way." She sighed and sat down in a chair. "As a matter of fact I want to tell you a story about that. It's a rather long story so …" The Queen gestured to chair.

Iria sat down next to her cousin who was frowning.

"Where should I start? You already said that my father had to flee from the righteous order. It probably was because of his powers. He wandered through the lands of Escargoria. He couldn't stay there since the country recently had a very bloody revolution against its selfish and spoiled king which meant that the people there weren't exactly sympatric towards royalty of any kind.

So he went farther into the kingdom of Corona to begin there a new life. He also met my mother, fell in love with her and after some time I was born. But then my father had an intense argument with my mother. My father then decided to leave her taking me with him and we travelled to the southern Isles. I later found out why he left my mother and understood it though it didn't changed the fact that I grew up mostly motherless.

My father soon realized that I was born with the power over fire and he made sure that I didn't accidently revealed them to anyone. Unfortunately this resulted into me barely having contact with other children but I had a perfect control over my powers."

"Wait", the princess interrupted her cousin. "Why do you tell me the story if you already had a good control over your powers?"

"I only had it until the age of five", Tinna explained. "I then started to lack a bit in control. However, it was only very minor so I didn't cared much."

"I guess it turned out to be a big mistake."

Her cousin laughed.

"I think that's actually a big understatement. When I turned six I've done something very stupid by using my powers and I've been seen. My father gave me angrily a lecture about never using my powers in front of others again and we had to move again.

You should know that we couldn't stay on the Southern Isles anymore. We didn't know where to go until my father heard from some sailors in a town's dock that in the palace of a kingdom across the sea in the north was a new right hand needed. My father also happened to be an old friend of king there so he decided that we should smuggle ourselves on a ship away from the Southern Isles and begin a new life in this kingdom.

It was easy to find a ship and a captain that was willing to smuggle us out, but it was hard to endure the whole journey below deck. It wasn't like I was seasick or something else, I got along with the swinging.

However, I was incredibly bored. I mean who wouldn't get bored if you had to stay below deck unable to do something to distract yourself for one week? I grew frustrated about this and noticed that my control in my powers lacked. That was dangerous considering I was sleeping in the same room in which the black powder was so I stayed as far away from it as I could. Happily the cabin boy thought me in his free time how to lock pick."

"You can do lock picking?"

"Yeah", Tinna laughed nervously. "All you need are two hair needles and a good feeling. It's quite easy actually when you understand how it works."

"But why did you learned it anyway? You could have learned another thing than lock picking."

"Well, I found it very fascinating to be honestly and I thought you never know when you need it. In the end it even kind of saved my life that I learned lock picking. Anyway I practiced it every day on another lock so I wouldn't be bored while time was passing on.

On the evening before we should arrive in the fjord of our new home I practiced until I was too tired to stay awake any longer. And as we were docking in the same night I only slightly noticed it when my father was carrying me of the ship to our new home.

Needless to say I woke up the next day really confused. But I also made my first friends. And that's where the actual story begins."

You see, I didn't started with the childhood or the accident but somewhere after the actual story. I wanted to give Tinna a reason or a occasion to tell the story. Do you think it is a good idea? And what do you think about her cousin Iria and her unpleasent uncle (or step-uncle?) Bicio?

Update: Okay, the last question is perhaps not really needed at the moment, for that Bicio obviously won't appear that often in this story (but he might become a constante in another story). Aand besides: I think conspiracy-theories would be much more fun to hear ... DO IT!
