A late night drabble, inspired by Aeris' concern for Tseng in the Temple of the Ancients and a bug in the PC version of FF7. (If you return to Midgar on Disk 2 and go to the church, you see Aeris' "ghost" tending the flowers.) Also thought that Turks seem to be unlucky in love (in strict cannon anyway) so maybe Tseng and Vincent might have a little something in common. The ramblings of the sleep deprived...

Cloud pushed the church doors open. He swore he saw Aeris there, tending the flowers, but she was gone when he brought back the rest of his party. In her place, a lone figure stood motionless at the end of the isle. Long black hair, blue suit: Cloud didn't need to see any more. He drew his buster sword and rushed forward.

Tseng didn't move or turn around when he heard Cloud's heavy footsteps bearing down on him. "If you believe I could fight you here then you never knew Aeris."

Cloud stopped short, letting his sword fall to his side. "She hired me to protect her from you and you took her away. You think you honor her memory by coming here but you turned her over to Shinra. She trusted you and you gave her to Hojo for his experiments."

Tseng looked to the ground then turned to face Cloud. "I couldn't stop them. That was my sin." No one interfered as he walked to the back of the Church and disappeared into the slums. AVALANCHE would meet the Turks another day on less holy ground.
