Hey guys! First off, I want to say that this is my first Harry Potter fic. Second, I LOVED this last movie and thought that it was a fitting end to the series of films. Third, I had this fic in my head almost from the moment that this scene happened. I own nothing, enjoy!
"That's my girlfriend, you numpties!" Ron roared as he barreled past Hermione in a blind rage while waving his wand arm wildly through the air.
Hermione had only just recovered from the shock of nearly being hit by a killing curse only to have her heart pound uncontrollably in her chest. She followed after Ron for a few steps and only vaguely felt an involuntary smile tug at the corner of her lips before she realized what Harry was doing in the pile of junk next to her.
His girlfriend. Her heart screamed with euphoria at the thought as she dug through the junk in search of Ravenclaw's diadem. Not since the days of Gilderoy Lockhart had she felt like such a "dewey-eyed school girl", and if they weren't in such a terrible predicament at the moment, she was positive that she might just behave like all of those schoolgirls who used to walk about the castle corridors with such sickening looks of teenage puppy love in their eyes. She might be inclined to behave like Romilda…or even Lavender.
Lavender. Her heart thudded once again with a sudden warm realization. Ron had never referred to Lavender as his girlfriend. No, Lavender may have snogged him, but she had not earned the title. Perhaps Hermione had always had a claim to it and all they needed was that one kiss for her to accept what was rightfully hers.
Again, Hermione's mind reiterated, under normal circumstances she might be inclined to smile smugly as she reveled in the fact that she had at last attained the relationship she had wanted for so long. However, times were not normal and so she resigned herself to digging through more junk with Ron's declaration playing itself over in her head.
She only stopped when she heard what sounded like Ron…yelling? Yes! It was definitely Ron yelling. She didn't have time to register much before Ron nearly yanked her arm out of its socket amid shouts about Goyle's fiendfyre curse. The fear and adrenaline welled up within her yet again as the new couple ran side by side through the maze of chairs, antiques, and wardrobes. However, this time there was a new feeling encompassing the fear.
The love that Hermione felt for Ron was much more present and she felt a great sense of certainty. She knew that somehow everything would be okay. She had no doubt in her mind that this would be the first of many near-death experiences tonight for the three of them, but she was certain that somehow they would all survive it together.
Well, it's short, I know, but I'm happy with it. What do you think? Please R&R!
