Hi, my first song-fic. Savage Garden's I don't know you anymore.
Disclaimer: I don't own Savage Garden. If I did there would be another album or two out right now. I don't own the slayers either. If I did I wouldn't be writing fan-fics, I would make more of the show. {Insert any information I forgot, like DON'T SUE}
I would like to visit you for a while
Get away and out of this city
Maybe I shouldn't have called but someone had to be the first to break
We can go sit on your back porch
Relax
Talk about anything
It don't matter
I'll be courageous if you can pretend that you've forgiven me
He walked up to Lina's house. Lina opened the door before he could knock. She escorted him to the back porch. He sat on the swing, she sat at the table. An uncomfortable silence passed between them. He could feel that she was still mad at him. She started to talk about the weather.
Because I don't know you anymore
I don't recognize this place
The picture frames have changed and so has your name
We don't talk much anymore
We keep running from the pain
But what I wouldn't give to see your face again
He left. He never came back. Wait. That's not true. He came back twice. The first time Lina spit at him, and the second Zelgadiss tried to kill him. It turns out his meeting with her the first time was just a dream.
Spring time in the city
Always such relief from the winter freeze
The snow was more lonely than the cold if you know what I mean
Everyone's got an agenda
Don't stop, keep that chin up, you'll be alright
Can you believe what a year it's been
Are you still the same
Has your opinion changed?
All through winter he left everyone alone. He just wandered. Spring came and he found him self on Lina's doorstep. It's been a year since he's last been here. Maybe… He knocked. A young girl, with Zel's skin, and Lina's hair, and eyes opened the door. She was tiny. The door swung open wider, that's when he realized she hadn't opened it, Lina had.
Because I don't know you anymore
I don't recognize this place
The picture frames have changed and so has your name
We don't talk much anymore
We keep running from these sentences
But what I wouldn't give to see your face again
"Lina, I" he started. Her eyes narrowed and she slammed the door in his face. A single tear ran down his cheek.
I know I let you down
Again and again
I know I never really treated you right
I've paid the price
I'm still paying for it everyday
He walked off. He didn't know what to do. Tears streamed down his face. He missed her so badly. All he wanted to do was apologize. He didn't realize until now how much he loved her.
So maybe I shouldn't have called
Was it too soon to tell
Oh what the hell
It doesn't really matter
How do you redefine something that never really had a name
Has your opinion changed
He stumbled into a town Lina had blown up years ago. More tears. He didn't realize. He hadn't known… If only… He screamed into the night.
Because I don't know you anymore
I don't recognize this place
The picture frames have changed and so has your name
We don't talk much anymore
We keep running from the pain
But what I wouldn't give to see your face again
His cheeks were stained. More tears fell; the dagger shone and glimmered in the moonlight. 'Once she loved me' he thought to himself. 'I ruined that.' The small sharp dagger went easily through his broken heart.
I see your face
I see your face
