He's standing in front of the mirror in his spare room, examining his dull features.
Yuma thinks he's ugly. Simple as that because no matter how hard he tries, Kaito still won't look at him.
He may act so...distant sometimes when he's around Kaito (who he's secretly in love with for years). But he swears it's hard to maintain the 'I don't care'look when in the inside, he's actually flustered and shy. And it's all because of the naive and oblivious, and good for nothing Kaito.
Why won't he just notice him?
Screw Kaito!
...
That doesn't sound right.
The cherry-haired man groans laboriously. He recoils from the mirror and plops down lazily on the beige couch behind him. Life is being unfair to him and unrequited love is such an...an...such an ass! Yes, such an ass.
"Why won't he look at me?" Yuma directs his question at the nothingness in front of him.
"Who are you talking to?" a low baritone voice questions next to Yuma. It almost sends him off his seat if he doesn't recognize the familiar voice.
Yuma narrows his eyes at the blunette sitting by his side. Kaito must have slipped into his room when he's busy debating to himself. Kaito can be sneaky when he wants to. Yuma gives a small pout at that.
"What are you doing here?"
"I...I was bored and you look like you need a company so I thought I..." Kaito shrinks before Yuma's glare.
"Next time, knock before you enter."
"Okay."
Then there is silence and the previous thought makes its way to Yuma's head again. He's ugly. That's why Kaito won't look at him like he looks at the others.
He's not good enough. He can't sing beautifully like Miku, he can't match Gakupo's charm, he can't...he's not as expressive or adorable as the Kagamine twins.
Maybe...
Yuma turns to look at Kaito. The other seems to be enjoying the serene quiet. Of course, everything is much better than him right? Here he is, blushing (a bit) like a girl when he notices the way Kaito's crystal, deep blue-colored hair grazing against his long eyelashes.
...he looks innocent.
"I think-"
"I think you look good today. As always." Kaito tilts his head; a small smile graces his face. It leaves a shocked Yuma to stare ridiculously at the latter. He keeps his mouth shut for a moment.
"Just -...You shouldn't hide your eyes behind your bangs like that." Kaito leans closer and brushes the long pink fringe from Yuma's foreheads, slicking it behinds his ears.
"See? You have beautiful eyes. I feel drawn to them." The older of the two claims excitedly. "But I like your smile better." he says, not knowing the influence he has on the other. "You should smile more."
Right now, Yuma feels like he's going to die from the extreme, overwhelming happiness. He means it literally. He wants to squeal. He wants to scream and tells Kaito of his feelings.
He wants to beat the shit out of Kaito (because he loves him so damn much).
Instead of doing all of that, he rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. "You're too cheesy. I hate that kind of people." he says in his fake impassive tone.
Kaito chortles at that.
"Yuma is not really an honest person."
"And you talk too much."
However, he'll remember this moment forever. And maybe one day, he'll have the determination to confess his feelings. For now, with Kaito next to him, talking and sharing stories with him, looking at him as if he's the most beautiful creation in the world, Yuma thinks it's already more than enough.
