She lay in a puddle of blood, awaiting death. It was a dark night and people were sure to pass the alley she lay in. Her large family was away on business and she had no boyfriend, so there was no chance of anyone looking for her. She couldn't feel her legs, pain coursing through her bruised and battered body. Therefore, she simply lay and waited for death to come and claim her empty soul. As she stared at the sky, it started to rain. 'How cliché…' she thought, words taken from her childhood friend and long time crush. She closed her eyes as the warmth began to fade from her body, saddened by the thought of her early and sad death. 'What did I do to deserve this?'

Suddenly she heard footsteps drawing near. Fearing her assailants had returned to continue with their torture, she kept her eyes shut. Strong, warm arms lifted her easily, carrying her out of the alley. She could smell his warm breath as it danced across her face, sweet and soft. Feeling safe, she drifted to a dreamless sleep in his arms. When she awoke, she was laying in a hospital bed, the familiar smell of disinfectant wafting around her. She looked over, spotting a man about two years older then her dozing in the chair. He had stunning ocher skin with flame red hair drawn back in a long ponytail. He was tall, very handsome with a perfectly toned body. 'He must workout…his arms were so warm…' she thought.

As she stared at him silently, he stirred. He lifted his head, his brilliant aqua eyes meeting her sea green eye and magenta eye. He smiled at her, his eyes softening. "Your awake… how are you feeling?" he asked in a somewhat deep voice, a soft falsetto undertone ringing through it. She parted her lips slightly then remembered her dilemma. She couldn't talk. At a younger age, some neighborhood bullies had pinned her down and forced a funnel down her throat, pouring in battery acid that forever damaged her vocal cords. Her older brothers had nearly killed the bullies after she had stumbled home, coughing up blood and collapsing in the doorway. When she didn't answer, he smiled gently. "They called your family. Your oldest brothers were the closest, so their here."

As if on cue, her twin older brothers walked into the room. Arin, the oldest, turned to him. "Thank you for helping our sister. May I ask your name?" "I'm Kenji Azusa. And you two are?" Caprin, the second oldest, gently touched her cheek. "Her name is Katsaya and we are Arin and Caprin Tishigiri. She can't talk… due to an unfortunate accident…" Kat gently touched Caprin's hand, smiling a little. Caprin nodded and stood, turning to Arin. "She's thirsty…" Arin nodded, both of them walking out the room. Kenji turned to her, a delicate smile on his face. "Katsaya… such a beautiful name…" She blushed a little, nodding her thanks. He stood, walking to the door. "I have to go to work now… but I'll be back, ok?" Kat nodded, smiling at him. 'I hope he never stops visiting.' She thought, lying back as he walked out.
