Lightning flashed through the sky, lighting the dark night for a moment while crashing thunder erased the silence and mixed with pounding rain. Another blast of thunder, another bolt of lightning.

Susan Pevensie sat on her window seat, watching the storm rage on. Her eyes were distant and unblinking, showing no emotion, only the fact that her mind was not in this world.

"You're still up?" a voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Hm?" Blinking, she turned to see Peter standing in her doorway. When her thoughts died down and she finally registered him, she said, "You are too, so you're not one to talk."

"I was studying, I have a test tomorrow. What were you doing, you don't have any tests."

"I was thinking…" she said, turning back to the window.

"You used to be scared of storms when you were little, remember?"

"Of course I remember. It took you, Mother, and Father to comfort me. But eventually I realized that there's nothing to be scared of. Thunder can't touch you, and it's so scarce to get hit by lightning."

Peter stifled a laugh, she was always too practical about everything, and walked over to her, following her gaze to the large, dark cloud that hung over them, "What are you thinking about, you don't look too well…"

Sighing, Susan looked at him sadly, "I was… I was wondering what he, Caspian, was doing…"

He looked at her, and noticed the sadness in her eyes. "Su, I…" he wasn't sure what to tell her, he was never good at talking about romance. But sensing Susan's pain, he knew he had to say something, "We all miss him. To Lucy, Edmund and I he was like a brother."

Susan hugged Peter, burying her face in his chest, "I don't know what to do… I miss him too much, but I know I can't go back. It's too painful…"

Trying to calm his younger sister, he stroked her hair with one hand, the other wrapped around her, keeping her close, "I know. It's confusing, but we'll get through it. We're all here for you, we'll help you. I promise."

"Thank you…" she murmured softly, closing her eyes when tears started rolling down her cheeks.

Gently Peter rocked back and forth slowly, calming her. Eventually Susan's breathing was even, and she was asleep. Sighing slightly, Peter looked out of the window, the storm was ending, only a drizzle of rain remained, Why did she fall in love with you, Caspian? You've caused her nothing but grief…
