I was walking in the woods when I saw a man in black clothing and a mask. He shot me with a gun and it almost hit me, missing by a few centimeters. He then held my head and gave me a knife.

"Kill the prince. By then, I shall spare your life… You have until midnight to do so…"

I was slightly shocked by this, but I had no choice. It's either the prince's life or my own.

So I went to the ball and looked for the prince. When I saw him, we locked eyes. He offered his hand for a dance. I'm still fearful by the fact that I'm going to be killed. I've been thinking of that up until now.

After a while, I forgot what I was supposed to do. I was happy. Really happy. So happy because I danced with the prince. Just then, I felt someone watching me. I looked at the side and saw the man who spoke to me earlier. It's as if he's pushing me to the limits…

"Do it… Do it…"

I looked around me. It's as if everyone is smiling. Begging me to do so.

For a while, we stopped. He looked at the clock. 11:39 PM. I stared at him for a while and let go of my hold to him. I had tears in my eyes. One dropped and he placed a finger on my cheek in order to catch it. After doing so, he licked the finger. I just stared at him smiling.

Somehow, I fell in love with him. At that moment… I bowed in fear. I was about to stab him. Just then, I felt something wet on my cheeks. Tears. He looked at me with surprise. I stopped still.

He just closed his eyes. Some more tears fall from my eyes. He… just talked to me calmly. It's as if he knew that I can't kill him all along. I was happy. But then, I didn't notice until then that I tried to stab him and missed. His suit on his side was slightly torn, but he appears to be fine. Will he forgive me for what I have attempted?

He just smiled and took my hand.

"I forgive you."

I smiled. Some more tears fell. We both went outside. As I was running out, following him, I dropped one of my glass shoes.

We stared at the moon.

I have forgotten what I was supposed to do. I chose his life over mine. I'm sure, I'll be protected no matter what the cause.
