I had to hold back my smile as I watched him. His arrogance almost amuses me. He thinks he is actually smart. If he spent more time training on camouflage instead of showing off for that girl he wouldn't be in this situation. The best part was she barely noticed him. She was too busy falling all over the boy from District 12. None of them deserve to win. They take everything as if it was a joke. That is why I'm going to kill them all—starting with Cato.
I made my way slowly to him. He was sleeping and oblivious to the last seconds of his life. How foolish. I thought before I lifted a boulder and dropped it onto his legs. A sickening snap was heard as the humungous rock hit his legs and he woke with a screech of terror. His eyes were full of pain and fear. He struggled to move but quickly realized he was helpless. I stared down at him with a feeling of success.
"You aren't so powerful now, are you?" I whispered. He reached for his knife that was laying two feet away from him, but I just stepped on his hand. "Any last words? Want me to tell District Twelve girl you love her before I slit her throat?"
"I hope she kills you. She deserves to win!" He managed to choke out before I slammed another large rock down onto his head, and with that, I gathered his supplies and walked away as the cannon finalized Cato's death. One down, two to go, I thought as I trudged away. Victory was so close. I could sense it.
My thoughts were interrupted by a deep growl coming from behind me. I instructively whipped around with Cato's axe in my hand, but nearly dropped it as my heart skipped a beat when I saw an insanely large mutant mutt obviously made from the words of the sick Capitol themselves. My body froze in shock until I realized there was more than just one of them, and I jumped into a sprint towards the Cornucopia.
I was dashing through the field when I noticed the couple from District 12 standing, weapons aimed at me—Katniss and Peeta. I just kept running, and their faces became confused until they saw the pack close to my tail chasing me, and they started running, too.
We climbed onto the Cornucopia and watched the mutts claws slip off of the smooth metal and I stole a glance at the Girl on Fire, and she saw me, sensing what I was about to try and do as she lunged for her bow and I lunged for her partner—the baker. "If you shoot me, we both die!" I sneered loudly over the scraping of the mutts claws on the metal and their vicious, bloodthirsty barks. She stared at me with a look of pure hatred, her bow aimed in on me. I had to think fast before she killed me.
I ran at her using Peeta's body as a shield and shoved her off of the Cornucopia with the boy, slinging him down with her and the mutts lunged hungrily at the two tributes and violently devoured them in the most gut-wrenching way possible. Boom! Boom! The cannons sounded loudly, and realization hit me as the mutts finished them off and walked away contently—I, Thresh of District 11—won the 74th Hunger Games.
