"Five days." Jamie said quietly to the infant. "It has been a full five days since you got dropped off at my doorstep. I think that we deserve a drink- of apple juice of course."
The little girl in his arms blinked at him and gurgled softly, flashing him a toothless smile. Jamie sighed quietly and brought her to the kitchen of his apartment, setting her on the counter gently.
"Stay."
The infant just stuck her hand into her mouth, watching him as he moved. Danny, who had been helping Jamie since he found the baby on his door step, entered the room and gasped,
"Jamie!" He sped over hastily, plucking the baby off the counter.
"What'd I do?"
"You can't just leave an infant on the counter! She can barley sit up on her own!" Danny sighed at his little brother's guilty look. After placing the baby into the high chair, he went back to Jamie, patting him on the back. "It's okay… You've never done this before. We live and learn right?"
"I'm not fit out to be a parent." Jamie said quietly, looking curiously at the jars of baby food to avoid looking at Danny's face.
"Well, you are one anyways. There are some things in life you don't get to decide for yourself. She's your daughter. It's gonna be hard. I would know, I have two kids remember? But Jamie, you can do this. Plus, you're not alone. You've got me, and Erin, and Dad, and Grandpa, and Linda, even Nicki and the boys. We're all here for you. We're not leaving."
Jamie sighed, turning to the little girl who was watching him silently, a little smile plastered onto her face,
"Danny's right. That means you're a Reagan." He said quietly. "Welcome to the family, Talia Reagan."
FIVE DAYS EARLIER…
Jamie and Eddie were watching a movie, one of those Hallmark Countdown Till Christmas movies, when it happened. The doorbell had rung and Jamie had looked to Eddie with a pleading look. After smacking him lightly with a pillow, she got up, heading to the door. She opened it and saw no one.
"Kids these days, ding dong ditching." Eddie laughed. She was about to close the door when she heard a soft noise and looked down, there sitting in a baby car seat was an infant. She blinked and then rubbed her eyes; when the child was still there again she turned to where Jamie was standing,
"Jamie!"
"What?"
"You're going to want to see this…"
Jamie sighed and threw the blanket off his lower half, "Eddie what are we-" Jamie stopped mid sentence, his jaw hung open in shock. "What the hell?"
