An Ending of Sorts
By SpiritNui
Toa Vakama stood inside the cavernous halls of the colloseum. How long had this whole ordeal gone on? It felt like centuries since they had first been granted with the responsibilities of being Toa. Now, their duty was about to be fulfilled once they brought the remaining matoran to safety on Mata Nui. The rest of his team were helping loading spheres onto the ship to be transported.
"Vakama!" An old friend called from behind.
"Norik!" The two fist bumped in greetings, as is done between brothers in honor. It no longer truely mattered to him what his wisened friend looked like. He had the heart of a Toa, and that was all that mattered.
"Well, my friend, I guess this is it. Thank you." He bowed his head slightly. They probably wouldn't have gotten through being hordika if it hadn't been for the help and wisdom of the rahaga.
"You are most welcome Vakama, but it's me that should be thanking you." He replied.
"I don't understand."
"It's not everyday I get to see a legend come true, you know." He chuckled.
Just then, Keetongu passed the two carrying two spheres in both of his arms with a smile on his face. It seemed to reflect the general atmosphere then. The sun was shining bright, the weather was clear, and their struggles would almost be over.
"Oh, yes Norik, He is quite a sight."
"Indeed, but I wasn't talking about Keetongu."
"The Great Rescue."
"Yes." Norik chuckled again.
"And now we know that the matoran are in most capable hands, your hands." He placed a hand on Vakama's shoulder.
The Toa of Fire had begun to smile warmly at those words. He had come a long way since he had first become Toa. He had come a long way since he had first become a Toa. At first he wasn't sure if he would be good enough to serve his city, and as time went on he became more confident. Overly so, in fact. His overconfidence led himself and the rest of his team to be captured and transformed into beast-like Toa Hordika. During this ordeal, he had lost himself and sided with the likes of Roodaka. After his confrontation with Matau, he had been brought back to his senses. They had defeated Roodaka and were cured by Keetongu.
Now he stood before the ships that would take them to their new home. They glistened in the sunlight as they floated miles above the ground, heavy with sleeping matoran. He closed his eyes as he stepped aboard.
The news that morning was grim. Trade was down, the weather had been awful for weeks, and now this. A ga-matoran spoke on the screen with that same flat smile everyone had on TV.
"Yesterday, a Ta matoran by the name of Vakama broke into the collusium before jumping to his death. Dozens of screams could be heard as beings watched in horror as the matoran fell hundreds of feet to the cold ground. We now go to an interview with his co-worker and friend, Nuhrii."
"Well, uh, I had known the guy for a long time. He was always kind of wacky. He'd have panic attacks, seizures, the whole bit. I couldn't let his ass near the mask melding tools, so he sorta remained my helper. He'd always go on about his "visions". Said he could see the future. He was diagnosed with a whole load of problems like schitsophrenia; He was on so many meds I thought his eyes would pop out. I knew he was wacky, but I never thought he might do this! I'll miss the bastard... we had a lot of good times, despite him being a bit of a weirdy..."
"And now we return to our Daily Life..."
