Autumn In Ganymede
By SMYGO4EVA
Think about something for a second, and you end up forgetting it the next day. Remember an idea for a minute and you keep thinking for the rest of your life. Memory and existence are two important factors in a human's life; even a duelist needs those so they could win in a battle of odds. A purpose, something so fragile and insightful, is what Yugi Moto and Mai Valentine make every effort for in this world.
Yugi blended in with the crowd before he solved the archaic Millennium Puzzle, and thus the King Of Games was born. Whenever he dueled, there was both beauty in blood and glory in pain when the presence of such authority emanated from godlike monarchs. However, there were times when Yugi just wanted to be known as himself, not the conqueror of opponents or the coveted possessor of such a worthy item. If his friends knew who he was, that he was only Yugi that was all that mattered.
Mai stood out from the crowd, from the group of humans who seem to aimlessly walk to their daily routines. She truly did: she didn't want to be normal; she wanted the world at her fingertips. She was ambitious as she was ruthless, considering her dueling skills and charm. But when she lost her entire being in the darkest of fates, she thought she was the lowest of low: nothing. She didn't want to be alone, but then again, no one does. Mortality sealed her fate by then, but she saw the light at the end of the tunnel, and she continued walking.
Existence of another can be easily thrown away and locked up in a dark room forever, but if you let darkness conjure you, then you have nothing. Impossible as it sounds, Yugi and Mai have let themselves be shattered and shattered again in the world, but they're still here. Both duelists have stared into the abyss, both once pure and beautiful, and have seen autumn in Ganymede. So they would mean the world to someone. They exist, so that's all that matters.
