I have reached the point where I must face the truth, what happened, was no mistake. I was bound to reach this incredible and awkward stage, to reach this personal existence, and cross over into reality. I was living a lie, and nobody knew it but me. I knew, of course, that it wouldn't last long, but I was gratefully hoping it would have lasted longer than this, this bliss, this freedom. Now Im apart of it, apart of it all, and Im like everyone else wishing for a second chance. Wishing I couldve make different choices on my roads to take. I was never fond of coagulating, but I did this time, for I had no other way. That point of insanity I stumbled upon, gave me hope, that I never before had. The point of endlessness, the point of being sure. The point of realty.
Now I find myself in a worse situation, the worst one Ive encountered by far, and I have no idea how to respond. What do I do? How do I get out of this? What happens if I.. Never get out of this?..
Arc was smarter. He knew what he was doing. He acted like he didnt, but deep down, he knew he did.
Arcalaides, being his whole name, was looking into the deep cerulean portal. After making careful decisions, he decided he would do the right thing, and step through. He, for a split-second, saw nothing but a blinding gray haze. Then a world of green appeared before his deep, wise, cobalt blue eyes.
A world with cement pillars, delimited with mounds of ivy, a hundred feet all around his, the ground was complete with feet of a murky type of green grass surrounding the pillars of ivy.
The pillars of ivy. He had heard about those before. Was it his father, Mesidocius, that had told him about those pillars? They held so much in them. Fear. A sense of absence, desolation. They did look scary, even as pillars go. Whats so scary about a pillar? Its colossal height, maybe? It could fall on you, massacring you easily. Nothing to be afraid about. But, that wasnt it. There was something about them. Something eerie. The stories theyve held. The sights theyve seen. The battles theyve had to watch. Intergalactic battles. Indeed theyve had their fair share of fright. Now they held it in their very bricks, the mason in their cracks. He was going to feel it. He would feel it. There was nothing he could do. They had him. He was looking right at them. They were staring back. From every direction. What was going on? What was happening to him? He all of a sudden felt drowsy. He was tired. No, Im not. He told himself. YES YOU ARE. YOU ARE. YOU ARE. He wasnt. He wasnt. Then he was. He really was tired. Yes. He was tired.
Then it happened.
He remembered what his father told him. It was all coming back. There it was. It was right there.
Son Im going to tell you something. I know its going to be hard to believe, boy, but youll have to understand. I want you never to look into the pillars of ivy. If you ever come across them in your lifetime, I never want you look into them directly. Never, Arc! You must promise me! His father was infuriated. What have I done? Arc wondered.
