Disclaimer: I don't own Lizzie McGuire. I've been begging Disney for the rights, but so far, no luck.

"I hate my name," Lizzie complained one day as she and Gordo were walking home from school.
"Why?" Gordo asked.
"Because it's annoying! I mean, for one thing, no one can ever spell it right. Half the people spell it Lizzi-with-an-i, another half the people spell it Lizzie-with-an-ie, and the other half the people spell it Lizzy-with-a-y."
"Lizzie, that's three halves," Gordo pointed out. Lizzie, who was still ranting, ignored him.
"And another thing. There's too many other Lizzies. When you walk down the hall and someone yells, 'Gordo,' you know they're talking to you. But me? I walk down the hall and someone yells, 'Lizzie,' I can't tell if they're yelling at me or one of the other five trillion Lizzies." Lizzie sighed. "I need a new name. Something less boring than 'Lizzie.'" She made a face as she tugged thoughtfully on her hair.
"Your name is fine," Gordo told her.
"No, it's not," she answered absent-mindedly, lost in thought. Looking around for some name inspiration, she spotted a street sign with the street name 'Isis.'
"Isis!" she exclaimed.
"What?"
"Isis. It's my new name. Isis McGuire. Isn't it cool?" Lizzie asked, spinning around a couple times.
"Isis McGuire…" Gordo repeated to himself.
"Call me Isis from now on, okay?" Lizzie said, taking his repetition as approval. She took it the wrong way.
"No."
Lizzie stopped and stared at Gordo. "What?"
"I'm not going to call you Isis."
"Why not?" Lizzie asked, pouting.
"Because your name is Lizzie. I don't want you to be Isis, I want you to be Lizzie. Lizzie's my best friend, not Isis. How would you like it if I suddenly wanted to change my name to, oh, say, Adam?"
"But you're not Adam, you're Gordo," Lizzie pointed out.
"And you're not Isis, you're Lizzie."
Lizzie was quiet for a moment before she said, "I guess you're right."
"Aren't I always?" Gordo said with a grin. He threw his arm over Lizzie's shoulder, and she did the same to him. "You're Lizzie McGuire. Don't ever change that, okay?"
"Okay."
With a smile, the two friends walked off down the street.

A/N: I actually want to change my name to Isis when I'm 18. It was my friend's idea. I was complaining about my name and he just randomly said, "Change it to Isis!" So... yeah.
